As a global organization, AECOM provides numerous avenues for your long-term growth. Working on a diverse range of projects, this role will give you the opportunity to develop and shape your career.

To be successful in this technical-focused role, you will have the following characteristics:
• Well-rounded experience including successfully delivering safety, quality, budget, and schedule in both management and technical roles.
• Experience contributing to multidisciplinary transit and rail design projects.
• Hands-on design and drafting experience in design software, ideally Civil 3D.
• Able to self-direct and work independently, but also lead and mentor our up-and-coming talent.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, particularly working with remotely distributed teams.
• Reputation for consistently meeting or exceeding commitments.
• Eager to tackle new or unusual challenges and find solutions through innovation.

Daily tasks may include:
• Under general direction, prepare and modify designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings and working drawings.
• Independently develop technical solutions and design options.
• Develop and/or implement the results of reports, opinions, or recommendations to address design challenges/opportunities.
• Lead the development and implementation of the design ideas and solutions.
• Communicate and collaborate with the full design team and client.
• Oversee and coordinate the technical work for projects consistent with experience.
• Develop and lead technical approach and criteria for a design element, and coordinate complex work.
• Ensure compliance to Quality Assurance Procedures.
• May be required to sign and seal documents (e.g. drawings)

For proximity to our clients, this position is best based out of our Edmonton, Calgary, or Burnaby office, however AECOM embraces work from home arrangements when it works for you, our company, and our clients.

Minimum Requirements

• 6 Years of Track Design Experience
• PEng or eligible

Preferred Qualifications
• 10+ years LRT and/or freight rail design experience
• Hands-On Civil Design/Drafting Software Experience (Civil 3D or similar)
• Strong familiarity with Canadian client design standards and processes (AREMA, CN, CPKC, BNSF, Translink, Calgary Transit, Edmonton Transit, Metrolinx, etc.)
• Consulting experience, including liaising with clients.
• Technical Lead experience on both large-scale and small-scale projects.

Additional Information
• Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $100,000.00 - $160,000.00.
