About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a highly qualified Senior Audit Manager to serve as the Head of Internal Audit for our Irish Bank, Wells Fargo Bank International Unlimited Company (WFBI), headquartered in Dublin.

The Senior Audit Manager will be responsible for developing and maintaining a strategic, risk-based audit plan and managing the internal audit function for WFBI. The ideal candidate will have proven experience successfully leading a team in a large-scale global financial institution, be an excellent communicator, and have a demonstrated track record of effectively influencing and driving change.

The candidate will need to work independently and proactively with a wide range of business leaders and regulators, including the Chief Executive Officer, Board of Directors, and the Central Bank of Ireland. This position will report within the Wells Fargo group Internal Audit function (via the International Regional Senior Audit Director).

In this role, you will:
•... Develop a comprehensive multi-year strategy for auditing the Front Line and Independent Risk Management activities of WFBI.
• Identify and evaluate existing and emerging risks, understand impacts to the audit plan, and implement appropriate adjustments to the audit plan that meet the heightened expectations of the group Internal Audit function, the Board of Directors, and regulators.
• Plan and organize work in an annual cycle, ensure audit engagements are risk-based and executed according to Internal Audit policies and guidance.
• Influence audit universe and engagement scope decisions of relevant Internal Audit teams to ensure robust coverage of WFBI.
• Lead audit teams in the planning and execution of high risk and complex assurance and/or project audits spanning across multiple disciplines. Support scheduling activities across Internal Audit groups to ensure efficient use of global resources.
• Interact with US and EMEA Internal Audit personnel to fulfill regulatory requests.
• Provide timely feedback, coaching and monitoring of direct reports’ development plans.
• Influence and provide credible challenge across multiple levels of management in the organization.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with management, regulators, and other third parties.
• Represent Internal Audit in WFBI governance committees.
• Ensure timely and quality monitoring and validation of regulatory and non-regulatory issues.
• The Senior Audit Manager will also be expected to participate in strategic and tactical projects with personnel located in Europe, Asia Pacific, and the Americas. To this effect, the ideal candidate must exhibit strong project management skills, resourcefulness, and cross-cultural awareness. This role will include management of the WFBI Internal Audit team who will report to the WFBI Senior Audit Manager.

Required Qualifications:
• Solid experience in one or a combination of the following audit or risk functions: leading teams covering risk identification, mitigation, and management (includes audit, legal, operational risk, compliance risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for risk).
• Proven experience leading and coaching a team with integrity and creating an environment where team members feel included, valued, and supported to do work that energizes them.
• A BS/BA degree or higher in accounting, finance, or business administration.
• Audit experience at a large multi-national financial institution or public accounting firm covering financial services clients.
• Relevant professional certification (CIA, CISA, CPA, ACCA, Securities License, etc.).
• Experience interacting with regulatory agencies.
• Experience in regulatory remediation.
• Knowledge of banking regulatory/ supervisory frameworks.
• Knowledge of commercial banking and corporate and investment banking products and business activities (commercial real estate, corporate lending, deposits, and payments).
• Strong organizational, multi-tasking, problem-solving skills to balance multiple priorities and execute in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.
• Demonstrated ability to be inquisitive, to credibly challenge and to proactively influence risk and control environments.
• Ability to attract, mentor, develop and retain high-performing audit professionals.
• Willingness to work flexible hours to support interactions with US and Non-US counterparts.
• Experience in Audit, Risk, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Central Bank of Ireland Regulatory Requirements

This role is designated as a Pre-Approval Controlled Function 13 (PCF-13) role under the Central Bank Reform Act 2010 (sections 20 and 22) (Amendment) Regulations 2011 (SI No. 615 of 2011), subject to certain regulatory requirements. This includes an obligation on WFBI to carry out prescribed due diligence to assess your fitness and probity, and to satisfy itself on reasonable grounds that you comply with the standards of fitness and probity prescribed by the Central Bank of Ireland pursuant to any code issued under section 50 of the Central Bank Reform Act.

Individuals who perform a PCF role must maintain a level of fitness and probity appropriate to the ongoing performance of that particular function and must comply with WFBI’s Fitness and Probity policy.

As a role carrying PCF designation, the role holder will also be subject to the requirements of the Central Bank of Ireland’s Individual Accountability Framework, to include the Senior Executive Accountability Regime (“SEAR”), the statutory duty of responsibility and the Common and Additional Conduct Standards. The role holder will be required to possess and maintain the appropriate technical knowledge required to perform the role and to understand the regulatory obligations to which they are subject as a PCF, to include, without limitation, SEAR, the Fitness and Probity Standards and the Conduct Standards. An individual who performs a PCF role has the ability to exercise significant influence on the conduct of WFBI’s affairs and ensures, controls or monitors WFBI’s compliance with its relevant obligations.
