jobs description

We will welcome applications from newly qualified Band 7 Psychologists in a Band 7 developmental post.

3K Welcome bonus (T&Cs apply)

We are looking for a Practitioner Psychologist to join our established community Offender Personality Disorder Pathway (OPD) team covering Norfolk and Suffolk, based at Hellesdon Hospital, Norwich. We will welcome applications from Band 7 Psychologists, with the opportunity to progress to a Band 8a role on successful completion of their preceptorship.

This is a part time 0.6 WTE opportunity, with the potential to increase you hours to full time in the wider Secure Services team. We would like you to Wednesday but there is flexibility on the other days. Our MDT works flexibly during the week to provide support to our service users and probation colleagues across Norfolk and Suffolk. We encourage smart working so a mixture of home, office-based working and community appointments can be expected. There will be a requirement to travel across Norfolk and... Suffolk with at least 1 day per week in Suffolk.

This is an interesting, varied and rewarding role and ideal for someone curious and keen to gain experience in this complex, specialist field.

You will be joining the team in providing support to Probation Practitioners in the region through offering them consultations and formulations, reflective practice sessions and training (known as our Core OPD service). You will also work within our Atlas service (known as our IIRMS OPD service) which delivers psychologically informed intervention to people on probation following release from prison or hospital who have personality difficulties.

We are a friendly and welcoming team who enjoy working together to support our service users. We recognise the need to support each other whilst also delivering the best service we can. In our team we have a Clinical Lead Psychologist, Senior Forensic Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, Trainee Forensic Psychologist, Senior Probation Officer, Probation Officer, a Probation Service Officer and an Administrator.

Experience working with people in secure settings or the Criminal Justice System will be helpful but is not essential. You will be given supervision, support and training to settle into the role and develop your skills. A positive attitude towards people with personality difficulties is essential.

Here at NSFT we pride ourselves on being a welcoming, talented, friendly and supportive team who like nothing better than sharing experiences and learning from each other. In addition to ongoing training and development opportunities, we are committed to providing an environment in which you can thrive.

Why work for us? We have challenges as a Trust, but we have ambitious aspirations, are pushing ahead with exciting transformation work and we need dedicated individuals to support us on our journey. We have strong, established professional networks coupled with an exceptional leadership team who will ensure you are truly cared for and cared about.

We find working with our client group extremely rewarding but we also recognise that it can be challenging at times. We believe that is important to support the wellbeing of our staff through regular clinical supervision and by promoting a healthy work-life balance. We believe that staff, who feel valued and supported by their employers are able to provide better outcomes for our service users.

Why Norfolk and Suffolk? The people here are warm and welcoming, you’ll never be far from the beautiful coastline or Broads National Park. We’re an hour and a half away from London and have an international airport in Norwich too. Our villages, towns and cities are packed full of history, independent cafes, shops and theatres. We have excellent shopping, eating out, top ranking schooling and affordable house prices too.
