In order to evaluate your ability to manage a client portfolio and create a compelling and well-structured press release, please complete the screening exercises below.

Please submit both together in the one Google document.

Task 1: Portfolio Management

Managing a client portfolio with ongoing priorities and deadlines can be a tricky balance. The role of an Account Director requires juggling multiple hats, switching from writing and editing activities, facilitating client meetings, and proactively pitching and securing stories with journalists.

Please describe in under 200 words your system for staying organised so all client requirements are met on budget and on time.

Task 2: Writing Exercise

You are a PR and Communications specialist at Third Hemisphere. Your client, Monoova, wants to announce that they’ve won a new client, Qantas, and will also be launching in the Singapore market.

Please write the media release you think Monoova should distribute to announce this news.

You are free to make up all information that you think is relevant to include in this type of release, for instance what the partnership will entail, its size, its length, etc. as well as Monoova’s plans in Singapore. Please also make up appropriate quotes from spokespeople from both companies.

In addition, please provide a very brief pitching strategy below this release, with a quick explanation about who you would pitch this story to, and why. You can include multiple journalists.

Your release should be written in a way that appeals to those specific journalists.

Specs for the press release:
• Format your release with a headline and a body of text going from most to least newsworthy, ending with spokesperson quotes from both parties.
• Use a professional tone and clear language so anyone at all can understand the news, with any jargon explained clearly.
• Use your judgement to include all key points that make the announcement newsworthy, and leave out those that aren’t.
• Include key messaging you have identified from the websites of both companies, or other online sources.

Submission Process

Please send submissions via a single Google doc to [email protected], CC’ing [email protected]

Please also include an attached copy of your resume/CV (PDF
