Tenure Status Non-Tenure Track Minimum Qualifications An ALA -accredited Master’s in librarianship/information science or foreign equivalent, or a terminal degree in a related field. Position Summary Reporting to and working in collaboration with the Director of Academic engagement, the Assistant Director of Academic Engagement is responsible for developing an instruction program that weaves information and related literacies (e.g. data, digital, and AI) into the library’s teaching program to equip students with the skills they need to succeed academically and as citizens in their communities. Seeks out and identifies new opportunities for critical and strategic instructional interventions, including workshops, course-integrated sessions, and other modes of service delivery. Coordinates the distribution of instruction requests among the team.
This position will have primary responsibility for creating an instructional assessment plan for both synchronous and asynchronous sessions. In concert with the Director of Academic Engagement, monitoring campus-wide instructional initiatives and pedagogical approaches that will influence and shape what and how the library teaches. Working with the Academic Engagement team to prioritize, coordinate and execute the continual development of online instructional assets to complement our in-person teaching and extend our campus reach.
This position will have supervisory responsibilities including direct reports from both the STEM and Social Science/Humanities instruction teams who work at the Main Library and McBay Science Library. In this capacity and as the coordinator of our instruction program, this position will help coordinate workflows, establish best practices, facilitate the sharing of materials, learning opportunities and training, and enhance communication among team members to ensure our service expectations are met.
UGA librarians are non-tenured faculty members working on 12-month contracts, including a choice of health and retirement plans, dental plan, vision plan, tuition remission, paid relocation, 21 days annual leave, 12 days sick leave, and 13 paid holidays. Additional Requirements Two or more years of experience in an academic library teaching and/or coordinating information literacy. Candidates will be considered at the rank of Librarian/Archivist I, II, III , or IV.
• To be considered at the level of Librarian/Archivist II, candidates must have 2 years of professional experience after completion of their master’s degree in librarianship/information science, or 2 years of professional experience after completion of their terminal degree in a related field.
• To be considered at the level of Librarian/Archivist III , candidates must have 5 years of professional experience after completion of their master’s degree in librarianship/information science, or 5 years of professional experience after completion of their terminal degree in a related field.
• To be considered at the level of Librarian/Archivist IV, candidates must have 10 years of professional experience after completion of their master’s degree in librarianship/information science, or 10 years of professional experience after completion of their terminal degree in a related field.

Duties/Responsibilities Duties/Responsibilities Coordinates library instruction by:
• Consults with faculty from different academic units and departments to identify courses for information literacy instruction
• Helps to prioritize in-person instruction efforts and identify course/programs where the library can be most impactful
• Works with instruction librarians to ensure the development and creation of appropriate instructional materials for in-person and online instruction
• Plans and leads professional development opportunities around pedagogy, online learning, assessment, and other instruction-related skills within the Academic Engagement team.
• In coordination with the Director of Academic Engagement, leads the creation of a library curriculum for a suite of literacies (info, data, digital, Al) that can be integrated into the sessions we teach in classes and serve as the foundation for standalone workshops
• Identifies and implements changes to workflows and systems to meet user needs, ensure proper routing of requests, facilitate information sharing within the team.
• Leads efforts to evaluate the library’s instructional impact, i.e., assessment, curriculum mapping, etc.
• Participates in classroom instruction, workshops, orientations, tours, etc.

Coordinates online instructional resources by:
• Coordinates efforts to design, create, and implement online instructional modules/tutorials/videos that align with student learning objectives and competencies.
• Maintains currency with software and products that facilitate online instructional modules/tutorials/video creation and discovery i.e., Camtasia, LibWizard, LMS tools

Manages a team of approximately 5 faculty librarians by:
• Recruiting, training, developing and evaluating faculty to contribute to their professional growth, development and retention.
• Supervises faculty who plan, develop, and implement course-integrated in-person, online, and hybrid information literacy instruction

Stays professionally engaged by:
• Contributing to appropriate library and system-wide committees and working groups.
• Assisting in the active promotion of library services.
• Manages and/or participates in other library activities and special projects, especially those involving new technologies.
• Attending professional meetings, workshops and conferences for training and continued professional development.
• Participating in writing grant proposals
