Senior Community Connections Officer (Housing Improvement) Role Profile

Community Connections is a multi-disciplinary team delivering services across Homelessness, Housing Improvement, Disabled Facilities Grants, Community Safety, Community Youth, and Community Development.

We are recruiting a Senior Community Connections Officer on a permanent contract into the Housing Improvement team. The primary role is Licensing of HMOs in the City and ensuring that legislative standards are met. There will also be occasions where the officer will be required to respond to complaints (non-HMO) and identify and remove hazards in properties in the Private Rented Sector. The successful candidate will also be required to provide advice and support to landlords and tenants to resolve their complaints and realise their rights and/or obligations. Other key duties will include carrying out site inspections, recording and maintaining complex case notes, producing defect lists, enforcement action... proposals, appropriate notices, checking compliance and any subsequent enforcement activities.

You will be joining at an exciting and challenging time. It is vital that we respond to complaints and work with partners to ensure all housing stock in Plymouth is maintained to a good standard ensuring residents of Plymouth are able to live safely and well in decent accommodation.

Whilst it would be useful to have some experience in the inspection of properties it is not essential as HHSRS training is provided. it is vital that you are able to manage complex workloads, this includes the administration and reporting functions so the ability to use technology an attention to detail is essential.

As a Senior Community Connections Officer, you will be working as part of a team and with partners to provide accurate and detailed approaches, based in legislation , to improve housing conditions . F ull training is offered, and officers are mentored whilst undertaking the role.

You must be happy to work independently and flexibly as you will be required to work from home whilst also working from various locations in the city and carrying out inspections.

This role is not suitable for flexible working due to the needs of the service.
