Tour Guide Job Specification Objectives of this Role To check bookings every day and know all details of events/tours taking place in the house. Confirming all tours at least one week in advance. To maintain the front hall and make sure it is always presentable for the viewing public. Liaise with tour guides and drivers to arrange group bookings, numbers and times. To carry out tours for the groups and other visitors to the house. To use the Volante system correctly to maintain the correct inventory of all stock. Maintaining the floats and cashing up at the end of the day. To upsell all the products and services available at Westport House & Pirate Adventure Par To have an excellent knowledge of the history of the house. To have full knowledge of all events we run here and all the opening times of each of our different areas, to include food outlets, ticket offices, Pirate Adventure Park and Gracys bar and restaurant. To sell books and other items we have on sale at reception. To work... as part of the team and communicate any ideas you may have to improve the service we offer. To always give a high level of customer care. To report any maintenance issues or work that needs to be carried out in the house. To be available for events at the house and flexible at all time. To regularly check our website for any updates or offers that are on it. Cash up and close the house in the evening ensuring that the house is secure and alarmed. Uphold standards of customer excellence and quality, ensure all guest feedback is appropriately actioned. Daily Responsibilities To check bookings every day and know all details of events/tours taking place in the house. To welcome visitors and ensure they have all the relevant information so they can make the most of their visit. To run the tours promptly and within the allotted time (30 minutes) to ensure the smooth running of the day. To assist in the set-up of any event that may be happening on the day e.g., afternoon tea, wedding, drinks reception etc. To ensure the first impression to the guest is a good one - sweep front steps, dust the Main Hall, hoover, check bathrooms and pay attention to the rooms during the opening procedure to see if anywhere needs extra cleaning or maintenance. Required Skills : Communication is critical when dealing with the public - if a visitor is unhappy, that the procedures in place are adhered to and fully applied e.g., supervisor/manager is called to deal with major grievances. Being punctual and using Alkimii (clocking in and out system) correctly. Being a team player and respecting your fellow colleagues.
