Intermediate Accountant (3-6 month contract to hire)

Location: Surrey, BC / Hybrid

Staffing Placement Opportunity

Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Intermediate Accountant role works closely with banking, AR, and AP. The successful candidate will bring strong communication, an inquisitive mind, scrutiny, and organizational skills to the role.

Responsibilities:
• Post journal entries with appropriate working papers and supporting documentation.
• Post accruals, adjusting entries, forex and reclass entries for month-end.
• Inspect transactions for discrepancies and compliance to internal controls and policies.
• Ensure that all journal entries are accurately prepared by deadlines and that general ledger accounts are reconciled on a timely basis.
• Assists in the preparation of financial statements, including intercompany, consolidations and elimination entries between subsidiaries at a consolidated level.
• Assist in the preparation of additional reporting packages for... senior management.
• Assist with the preparation of Budget and Forecast.
• Perform variance analysis and reconciliation of GL accounts.
• Assist with inventory analysis and reporting as needed.
• Support ad hoc projects and system change implementations as they arise.
• Proactively participates in process improvement and workflow efforts to streamline projects and improve team efficiencies.
• Prepare tax remittance details.
• Perform other accounting, administrative or analysis duties as assigned.
• Cross train within the team.
• Provides support to the Controller when required.

Qualifications

All requirements are based on 3-5 plus years of experience and include, but are not limited to the following:
• Required – Certificate or Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field.
• 3+ years – Business experience in Finance, Accounting.
• CPA Designation or working towards the CPA PEP program.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication skills, writing abilities, strong organizational skills, detail- oriented, and proven ability to work independently.
• Strong work ethic and a positive respectful, collaborative attitude.
• Strong problem solving, critical thinking, interpersonal and analytical skills.
• Inquisitive mind that can take a step back and see the bigger picture.
• Ability to meet deadlines during peak periods .
• Intermediate MS Excel skills with experience in pivot tables and vlookup.
• Previous experience in Microsoft Dynamics Business Central preferred.
• Knowledge of import industry an asset.
• Automation mindset.
