We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Senior Associate, HR Advisory. Reporting to the Senior Director, this permanent position is based in the US.

Purpose of Role

The Senior Associate, HR Advisory will support the provision advice related to addressing and identifying US as well as international employment, HR, payroll and benefits related matters.


In this context, the Senior Associate, HR Advisory will be... working in a professional services firm that has an excellent team environment, providing advice on and implementing HR advisory services for both the US companies expanding overseas as well as overseas companies looking to set up and operate in the USA.

The role will include a global geography despite being based in the US, and will carry a billable hours target of approximately 70% of work time.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage your time effectively during the induction and probationary period to maximise learning opportunities and to achieve all other accountabilities and responsibilities set out below. Discuss and collaborate with your line manager and other team members to obtain the necessary information and validation of the same.

• Provide the highest quality of US and International HR advisory services to a demanding client portfolio. Identifying requirements, delivering timely advice and solutions as agreed with the Client.

• Ensure projects for Clients progress as agreed and issues are managed to a positive outcome. This may involve close liaison and management with colleagues across the Vistra network (and possibly third party providers) in the US and other countries.

• Review the circumstances of each client to identify global business development opportunities for Client Service teams for relevant services and as offered across Vistra as a whole, as well as by the Vistra advisory practice (including HR / Mobility, Tax and Legal teams).

• Collaborate with internal business development colleagues to further advance current Client portfolios and participate in winning new engagements through a consultative sales approach. Support preparation of scope of work, fee quotes and engagement letters.

• Keep abreast of developments in International HR that will affect the Client base. The Company will provide reasonable support and assistance to help you achieve this responsibility.

• Support provision of technical and operational domestic and cross-border HR advice and draft supporting documents to a high standard for all aspects of the employment cycle, including in country hiring and employment contracts, payroll and local employment requirements, internal HR policies, variations of terms, transfers, employee benefits, and supporting performance and termination cases.

Attributes/ Technical Skills

• Interest in leaning about Payroll, Employment and HR best practice in the US and internationally, as well as learning about global mobility / expatriate support programs that companies offer employees along with the associated immigration and expatriate tax policy and compliance considerations

• Able to communicate with senior client employees with the appropriate credibility and gravitas

• Able to facilitate meetings (including teleconferences) dealing with demanding or technical issues

• Able to quickly analyze a request and produce a confident response despite pressure

• Able to display information in a format to assist understanding, impact and professionalism

• High level of attention to detail in order to review and complete work effectively

Relevant Experience

• Passion for Human Resources and desire to develop US and cross-border knowledge in an international environment

• 2-3 years’ experience in Human Resources services preferred

• Experience of providing external client services in and/or with International Operations involved in cross-border operations preferred

• Experience with building customer relationships and supporting sales efforts

• Managing a variety of work demands in a high pressure environment

Education and Professional Qualification

• Bachelor’s Degree required

• Degree in relevant subject or equivalent experience


• Base Salary $72,250 - $85,000 depending on experience
