The role:

The role of the Material Planner is to manage the RM/PKG requirements in support of the Master Supply Plan and the inventory plan, ensuring that inventories are accurate and do not exceed the min/max set by the Inventory Policy.

The Material Planner is also responsible for delivering NPD execution plans in-full, on-time and minimizing write offs.
• Support the availability of raw materials and packaging, minimizing disruptions to the production plan.
• Maintain Master Schedule Stability. Collaborate with the Production Planner to address any schedule adjustments or anticipated delays, ensuring a valid MRP plan and providing vendor schedules aligned with business forecasts. This involves establishing lead times, quanties, and safety stock supply plans, assessing material requirements, and confirming suppliers' capacity to meet plans within the Planning Time Fence and the IBP Supply Plan horizon.
• Track weekly consumption against requirements and escalate any deviations to... the Production Planner, Operations, or Finance.
• Oversee the receipt of materials into site stores, maintaining on-hand balances in accordance with product cycle counts.
• Manage purchase orders and coordinate with Inward Logistics to schedule deliveries within the week.
• Aggregate and report supplier DIFOT (Delivery In Full, On Time) results, aiming for a 90% target, while identifying root causes for significant deviations and implementing corrective measures, escalating to Procurement when necessary.
• Identify and address slow-moving and obsolete (SLOB) inventory. Participate in schedule meetings, presenting past performance and securing agreement on schedule adjustments when needed.
• Ensure timely procurement of raw materials for new product launches and promotions according to agreed lead times.
• Maintain accurate system data, including MRP settings, Bills of Materials (packaging changes), and other inputs affecting the planning process.
• Collaborate with suppliers on initiatives to reduce inventory coverage, minimize material out-of-stocks, decrease purchasing lead times, lower Minimum Order Quantities (MOQs), and increase purchase frequency to align material usage patterns with supplier supply chains.

Essential Requirements:
• Industry: +5 years’ experience in FMCG manufacturing
• Education: Ideally, a degree qualification in an analytical/business/commercial discipline
• IT Skills: Experience in using ERP systems similar to M3 / SAP, data warehouse tools (eg. COGNOS) & MS Excel, PowerPoint
• Planning & MRP experience
• Sound knowledge of all stages of the supply planning process especially production planning and site constraints e.g. batch sizes, capacity planning, scheduling
• Experience in implementing system modules within a manufacturing environment, ideally related to the M3 system.
• Experience in complex stakeholder management to achieve alignment around a common set of goals
• Effective quantitative and analytical skills with the ability to understand critical assumptions
• Detail oriented, organised and have the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Ability to work calmly and positively in fast paced environment and under pressure
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence at all levels in the business
• Ability to build effective relationships with business partners
• Get 'stuff' done, even the boring 'stuff'
