Title I Social Services Liaison/Homeless and Unaccompanied YouthJOB STATUS: OPEN POSTING DATE: 05/15/2024 CLOSING DATE: 05/29/2024 04:00 PM POSTING NUMBER: 045943 LOCATION: Admin Community Outreach - 884 POSITION TITLE: Title I Social Services Liaison/Homeless and Unaccompanied Youth
Perform casework services to help homeless students and unaccompanied youth resolve personal... emotional, and social problems that interfere with their adjustment to school and their educational success. Provide direct support to students and parents working in conjunction with community agencies to strengthen the education process for homeless students and unaccompanied youth. Actively engage homeless students and unaccompanied youth in goal setting, tracking progress, and utilizing school and community resources as needed. This supplemental position has been approved for the 2024-2025 school year. This position is 100% funded under the ESSA Title I, Part A program and will require time and effort in the form of biannual certification. In the absence of Title I, Part A funds and/or the needs of the district, continuation of this position can be rescinded.
• Monitor and assist campuses in tracking and locating homeless students and unaccompanied youth.
• Perform casework service with parents to increase the parents' understanding, their constructive participation in resolving their child's problems, and their knowledge and use of available of appropriate resources for keeping students in school.
• Supervise the referral of students and families to outside agencies.
• Serve as liaison between student, home, school, and community resources, such as family service agencies, child guidance clinics, courts, protective services, doctors, and clergy members. Access and work closely with community agencies to identify resources for students and their families.
• Provide crisis intervention and preventive support as needed by students and their families.
• Make home visits to gather information relating to students.
• Consult with parents, teachers, and other school personnel to determine the cause of student problems and effect solutions.
• Refer students for medical, psychiatric, and other tests and examinations that may disclose causes of difficulties and indicate remedial measures.
• Assist with dropout recovery efforts working with the High School Completion, Attendance, and Crisis Intervention Specialists.
• Serve as consultant to school personnel regarding students or situations that are not referred for direct district or outside services.
• Develop and maintain effective individual and group relationships with students and parents.
• Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other required documents.
• Comply with policies established by federal and state laws, State Board of Education rule, and Board policy.
• Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations.
• Participate in professional development activities to improve skills related to job assignment.
• Effectively communicate with colleagues, students, and parents.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Maintain regular attendance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Two years of experience in work related fields of social work or in the community service sector
• Bachelor's degree in social work or related field from an accredited college or university

Special Knowledge/Skills:
• Knowledge and skill in casework methods
• Strong communication skills for conferencing with teachers, parents, students and outside agencies
• Knowledge of prevention and intervention strategies, including behavior management interventions and dropout preventions
• Awareness and ability to access community resources
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress. Regular district-wide travel to student homes and multiple work locations as assigned. May be required to lift and transfer students to and from wheelchair or assist with positioning students with physical disabilities.

PAY GRADE: AE-2 - Minimum pro-rated salary - $61,600
