YOUR ROLE

We’re seeking an experienced and capable Transport Manager to lead our transport hub at Mangere. The primary focus of the role will be to guarantee the safe, efficient, timely and cost-effective distribution / receipt of all transport services to our customers. You’ll manage day-to-day operations of the transport terminal and transport movements, with the support of a small but agile team (fleet control, administration, company drivers, storepersons... including subcontractor drivers.

The role ensures compliance with industry regulations, safety protocols, and CoR legislation.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?

Specifically, You Will
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety protocols, and Chain of Responsibility (CoR) legislation, maintaining a strong focus on safety throughout all operations. Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify and address safety and compliance issues
• Accountable for key performance indicators (KPIs) related to on-time dispatch, labour utilisation and associated costs, safety, etc.
• Identify trends, address challenges, and implement strategies to enhance operational effectiveness and cost-efficiency
• Address operational challenges promptly, resolving conflicts, and mitigating issues that may arise within the transport process
• Lead your team, ensuring adherence to company policies and performance standards. Provide guidance, training, and support to optimise individual performance and efficiency
• Build strong relationships with customers, understanding their needs, and delivering excellent service internally and externally with a focus on cost and quality.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Our ideal candidate has experience in transport operations, including at a supervisory / management level, as well as:
• Applied knowledge / understanding of transport regulations and compliance standards in New Zealand
• Budgeting and cost management skills / experience
• Intermediate ability in MS Office (esp. Excel) and capable of adapting to new systems / technology
• Sound analytical, communication, presentation, influencing and stakeholder management skills
• Bonus: P&L exposure; hands-on experience with fleet planning / scheduling.

In addition to providing proof of work rights and suitable professional referees, progressed candidates will be required to undergo a medical assessment and national police check.
