We have an exciting new role available at Council and are looking for someone with a learning and development background to help us deliver great training to our teams.

The Training Support Officer will support the delivery of training programs related to a significant change project underway at GDC. The role involves working alongside the project team, subject matter experts, and business units across Council to understand, capture and create quality training materials using a variety of training tools and methods. The role also provides administrative, scheduling and delivery support to ensure successful training outcomes.

It is a fixed term position for 18 months to align with project delivery timeframes.

Reporting to the project Change Manager, you will be a crucial part of a dedicated and talented team that has wide reach, building relationships and connecting people to knowledge to ensure our staff are supported with the tools and learning content they need throughout the... transition.

Therefore, you’ll recognise the importance of the role as a Treaty partner and understand how that underpins Gisborne District Council’s work.

The position is fulltime 40 hours per week Monday to Friday with flexibility to work at home in balance with key onsite periods.

Duties include
• Work with the project team to understand system configuration, business processes and what training content needs to cover for learners.
• Ensure training content is captured and created alongside design, configuration and user acceptance testing workshops as they occur.
• Support training needs analysis to ensure training material content is matched and reflective of the audience learning needs.
• Schedule training workshops and support training delivery sessions as required.

Skills and experience required
• Experience with learning and development tools and platforms.
• Understanding of learning methodologies and how to meet learner needs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication ability.
• Ability to translate complex information into easily accessible training content.
• High level of computer literacy.
