Job Description

As a Data Analyst you will be accountable for translating complex information into clear and easy to understand insights to enable Meridian’s Generation business to make informed data driven decisions. You will help analyse and transform a variety of information from hundreds of thousands of sensors on our plant, maintenance records, external sources and enterprise data... platforms into actionable insights and self-serve reporting tools.

You will take ownership of Generation’s business-related reporting in Power BI as well as play a lead role in maintaining and developing new data or reporting solutions. Be a technical expert and product champion in Power BI to empower Meridian’s Generation business unit to visualise, trend, and analyse information to support decision making.

You will travel to our iconic assets in beautiful locations and work with all generation teams to find opportunities where data insights could add value to our operations. You will work with external service providers to maintain and improve our data systems to ensure they keep pace with the latest developments.

Please note, this role can be worked from either Christchurch or Wellington.

What you’ll bring

You will have a relevant tertiary education, or 3+ years equivalent experience in data visualisation, data analysis, reporting or insights roles. We’re looking for someone with expertise in analytical and visualisation tools such as Power BI, R, Python, SQL, Jupyter notebooks, and Databricks.

You will also have proven experience using Power Automate and Power Apps or similar tools as part of integrated reporting and data solutions, and have a willingness to learn about new tools and systems including Plant Information (PI) and Asset Framework (PI/AF) systems, maintenance management systems, IIOT systems and new platforms

Other key requirements include:
• Experience in designing intuitive data solutions with the end user in mind
• Experience in technical leadership, and working collaboratively with internal stakeholders and external parties in meeting business needs
• Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to take and provide constructive feedback between team members and management
• Rigorous approach to problem solving
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Active curiosity – an eagerness to continue learning
