Job Title: Quantity Surveyor



Purpose of the job

The quantity surveyor will be responsible for the contractual management of subcontractors and design consultants, cost reporting and all other commercial matters associated with the project. Reporting through the commercial procedures relating to subcontractors and suppliers will be required.

The role will also involve assistance with the procurement of subcontract packages, and assisting the commercial manager in main contract obligations such as cost and value reporting, and main contract change.

Accountabilities / Key Responsibilities
• Administration of design and pre-construction contracts during the design stage of the project – these will include NEC4 PSC option A / C and E contracts.
• Subcontract Administration of all Subcontract packages on the project including all contract admin associated ensuring compliance with the contract and Dragados management systems. Subcontracts may vary... from NEC4 Option A/B/C and E subcontracts.
• Management of all Subcontract change associated with the above packages including assessment of compensation events, and associated quotations for each subcontract.
• Assisting in the early warning process for all Subcontracts.
• Manage the monthly valuation and payment notice process for each package in accordance with the requirements of the subcontract.
• Assist with the change management process under the main contract where applicable to packages being managed by the QS, this will involve assisting the project commercial manager in obtaining necessary subcontract information produce quotations and support entitlement.
• Responsible for assisting the procurement team during the procurement process of subcontract packages ensuring due diligence when evaluating tender submissions and assisting preparation of subcontract documentation.
• Assist in preparation of ITT's and Commercial Tender assessments.
• Produce and monitor monthly cost reports for each package including presentation to the senior management team.
• The above will cost spreads and forecast spread each period including analysis of the programme for each package.
• Production of cost and value (CVR) reports every month for each subcontract package including presentation to the senior management team.
• Provide the construction and design teams with commercial supports for each package.
• Registration, notification and evaluation of early warning procedures events.
• Potential opportunity to manage trainee / assistant QS.

Experience, Knowledge, Qualifications & Training
• The role will require the post holder to have excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal and to be able to report at management level.
• Educated to degree level or equivalent in a construction, commercial or related discipline.
• Experience of working with the NEC (3 or 4) form of contracts including both Option A / B / C and E.
• Experience working as a quantity surveyor on a civil engineering / infrastructure projects.
• Relevant experience in a commercial role.
• Analytical mind and logical problem solving.
• Able to work as part of a team.
• Committed to ethos of an accountable, cost effective, high quality, customer driven service delivery.
• Demonstrable commercial awareness.
• Computer skills – Word, Excel, Outlook, Explorer.
• Holds a CSCS Card.
