The purpose of the EAL teacher is to promote high quality learning in a challenging yet supportive environment which allows all students to flourish. The role of the EAL teacher is to foster a love of learning the English language and encourage a sense of inquiry and creativity among our students and deliver and evaluate quality learning programs. The EAL classroom teacher will implement the vision of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP) and inspire students to fulfill their potential. Providing opportunities for high quality learning is at the heart of the role.

The EAL teacher reports directly to the Principal of the Kindergarten and Primary School and works closely with fellow teaching staff, including the Deputy Principal and Primary School and the Primary Years Programme Coordinator. The EAL teacher is expected to exercise a high degree of initiative in planning, teaching, assessing, and reflecting on the needs of students. They are also expected to work in close alignment with their colleagues in collaboratively planning high quality, challenging, engaging and inquiry-based programs which extend their students.

• Bachelor of Education with a major in EAL and teaching license in EAL, have relevant experience of at least 3 years
• Must be eligible to work within Vietnam
• An understanding of, and experience in the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program would be an advantage, but is not required
• Applicants must have a demonstrable passion for working with children; to develop their learning skills and social confidence and be willing to work as part of a positive and supportive team to achieve the school’s aims and goals
