jobs description

As the Frontend Development captain, you will manage the GUI development team developing responsive web design, user-friendly web applications, modules, components, and infrastructure used primarily in Nokia’s NSP Product and re-used across the Network Infrastructure business unit. The position requires a visionary guide with a strong desire to set the direction that our front-end technology, architecture, and NI design system heads in.

Your exceptional technical and management skills will help the team identify the latest web technologies, frameworks, and tools, guiding the team with architectural, system design and coding decisions.

You will drive the direction and process followed for all NSP front-end work, respecting modern development practices, and using best-in-breed tools to achieve optimal user experience, high development velocity and exceptional product quality.

Applying a creative mindset with a structured approach to problem-solving, and a willingness to propose... innovative ideas, you will thrive in this role by influencing how the broader NI community develops and uses the technical solutions you provide to achieve their own customer experience goals.

As the technical captain of a crew of developers, you will play a crucial role in product design discussions, feature development, and code reviews, working closely with multiple scrum teams, the user experience team, QA, PLM, and other product development groups.

As a leader, you are also accountable for mentoring team members, communicating progress upwards and across the organization, managing timelines, and cooperating with other departments to align development goals with business objectives.

Essential skills:
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or 7+ years Front-end development and 3+ years team lead level.
• Passionate and up-to-date with front-end emerging technologies.
• Strong customer focus, ownership, urgency, and drive.
• Demonstrated ability to influence larger organizational outcomes and push teams toward success.
• Experienced in building a team that respects and supports one another; coaching and mentoring team members, and fostering their professional growth.
• Accountable for code quality and application optimization. Review and provide feedback on code and design.
• Excellent communication skills, managing technical communication, project status and challenges up, down, and around.
• Exposure to project management, with the ability to illustrate how you have teamed up with cross-functional teams to align development with business goals.
• Highly proficient with JavaScript frameworks and a solid technical comprehension of REACT, HTML5, CSS, NodeJS and modern web design principles.
• Comfortable with CICD, Docker, K8s, and agile development tools and process.
• Strong portfolio of work showing experience developing user interfaces that are highly usable and empathetic to user and customer needs.

Desirable skills:
• Familiarity with web accessibility standards.
• Experience managing with flex workers and geographically diverse teams, including remote work and in-person teams.
• Understanding of networking & network management
