The informal retailers of Africa today are the primary if not the only channel used by consumers to purchase essential goods worth over $600 billion per year. The fragmented infrastructure across large land mass, distributed but diverse population and rather a smaller basket size spend does not yet lend themselves to big basket retail or mass consumer ecommerce. Instead, the informal retail ecosystem is THE channel for building the plumbing for digital and consumer
commerce across Africa.

Role: Transport Coordinator

As a Transport Coordinator at Wasoko, you will be responsible for coordinating all Logistics activities within their area of operation. This includes dispatching orders and scheduling vehicles, drivers, and orders to ensure timely delivery. You will be reporting to the Hub Warehouse Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
• Route Planning and Optimization: Develop and implement efficient transportation routes to ensure the timely delivery of goods while minimizing costs and maximizing resources.
• Fleet Management: Manage and maintain a fleet of vehicles, including scheduling maintenance, repairs, and inspections to ensure they are safe and compliant with regulations.
• Driver Management: Recruit, train, and supervise drivers, ensuring they have the necessary qualifications, licenses, and training to operate vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, including driver hours, vehicle weight limits, and hazardous materials handling. Implement safety protocols and procedures to minimize accidents and injuries.
• Inventory Management: Coordinate with warehouse and inventory teams to ensure accurate loading and unloading of goods.
• Customer Service: Communicate with customers to address inquiries, resolve issues, and provide updates on delivery schedules. Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction through efficient and reliable transportation services.
• Cost Management: Monitor transportation costs, including fuel, maintenance, and labor expenses, and identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
• Performance Monitoring: Track key performance indicators such as on-time delivery, vehicle utilization, and fuel efficiency, and implement measures to improve performance as needed.
• Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of transportation activities, including driver logs, vehicle inspections, and shipping documents, to ensure regulatory compliance and accountability.
• Problem-Solving: Address logistical challenges and unexpected issues that arise during transportation operations, such as traffic delays, vehicle breakdowns, or adverse weather conditions.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for process improvement and implement best practices to enhance the efficiency, reliability, and safety of transportation operations.
• Collaboration: Coordinate with other departments such as procurement, sales, and distribution to ensure seamless integration of transportation services with overall business operations.

• Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in Logistics, and Fleet Management preferably in an e-commerce or retail environment.
• Strong leadership and management skills, with experience in leading and motivating teams and delivery agents.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with teams across different functions and levels.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement.
• Knowledge of logistics processes, Fleet Management warehouse management systems, and inventory management.
• Understanding of safety and security measures in a logistics environment and Fleet Management.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities
