Property and Facilities - National Health & Safety Manager - Home based with frequent national travel - ARD1002336

This is a remote based national role with a requirement to travel and attend our various offices across the UK as per business needs. A clean driving licence is required and whilst this is a Monday to Friday 9-5.30pm role, there will be times when you are required to work out of hours.

Purpose of the Role

This exciting new National Health & Safety (H&S) Manager opportunity has arisen to join our Property & Facilities (P&F) team to be one of the primary sources of subject matter, risk management, technical expertise and compliance assurance for H&S, fire safety and compliance across the business, creating and maintaining great places to work.

You will be responsible for implementing and overseeing safety protocols, conducting risk assessments and site inspections, and developing strategies and playbooks to minimise hazards. This position requires a proactive approach... to eradicate or minimise potential risks, ensuring the well-being of our sites and site users, and adherence to legal requirements.

What you will do

This is an overview and not an exhaustive list of responsibilities. Collaborating with your Line Manager, the Head of P&F, you will develop your own objectives but focus on all of the following and more.

Remain updated with all H&S, Fire Safety, Environmental and security regulations and legislative changes to ensure regulatory compliance.

Carry out regular site inspections, audits and risk assessments – including H&S, Fire Safety and Physical Security, including projects, in accordance with Fire and H&S regulations, legislation and government approved best practices.

Develop and implement health, safety and compliance processes and policies.

Ensure sound H&S and Fire Safety practices are documented and implemented across the business area.
• support to the Head of P&F and the operational teams, in all areas relating to Health, Safety and environment including framework plans.
• with our Operational Resilience team to devise play books and business continuity plans.
• investigations into accidents, incidents and near misses. Document findings, identify root causes and implement corrective / preventative measures.Prepare and submit detailed reports to Head of P&F and regulatory bodies when necessary.

Drive a safety orientated culture among workers and sub-contractors.
• safety concerns and integrate safety measures into project planning and execution.
• and maintain emergency response plans including Fire Safety, conduct drills, and ensure all personnel are aware of the procedures in case of emergencies.

Identify high fire risk facilities and work activities ensuring these are comprehensively risk assessed and take all corrective and preventative actions.

Provide authoritative expert professional advice on fire protection.
• sharing and training – including H&S and fire safety training needs, facilitating training programmes, safe working practices, the proper and safe use of PPE and emergency procedures.
• colleagues and customers with any H&S documentation i.e. PEEPS
• quarterly H&S and Physical security forums with key contacts within the business.
• hard and soft copy documents, certificates, and any other information in relation to H&S, compliance and fire safety for our sites.
• PPM compliance – accurate documentation across the board.
• H&S and fire safety exhibitions and seminars.

Who we are looking for

This is an opportunity for a subject matter expert in H&S laws, compliance and regulations who is seeking a new opportunity where they can demonstrate great communication skills, leadership and problem-solving skills.You will be a professional, organised individual who can lead by example and maintain a friendly, enthusiastic approach in a fast paced environment whilst managing multiple projects at any one time. You will be open to a new challenge, be flexible in your approach whilst always maintaining a high-level attention to detail. We are looking for someone who is/has:
• and professional membership appropriate to the role i.e. NEBOSH general, Level 5 or above Health and Safety related qualification, IOSHH, Fire Safety Management, NEBOSH Fire safety qualification or equivalent
• of property management (preferably in an office environment) including regulation and emerging government policy.
• of Physical security and/or construction safety would be advantageous but not essential.
