Siemens is seeking to recruit a highly qualified and motivated CFD engineer to join its Development Support team. The engineer will work in the Development Support Fluids department and contribute to its Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) division, placing focus on the core CFD modelling capabilities of Siemens PLM’s flagship multi-physics simulation product, Simcenter STAR-CCM+.

As a Development Support member, the engineer will verify CFD software predictions meet the highest quality standards and help deliver advanced technical software support services to a global client base.

Development Support provide high level support that facilitates the transfer of technical knowledge between the Solution Domains Development organization and the rest of the company. Development Support engineers work closely with software developers as new versions of Simcenter STAR-CCM+ are developed, to help ensure new software features are well understood and function as intended.

Development Support engineers liaise with teams worldwide to provide advanced technical solutions such that end user issues are promptly answered or fixed, while software products are used to their maximum potential.

As a member of the Development Support CFD division, you will be expected to contribute to constitutive areas related to finite volume flow solvers, turbulence, heat transfer and computational aeroacoustics modelling. To succeed in this role, you must demonstrate advanced knowledge of CFD and experience with modeling complex industrial flows typical of such applications as turbomachinery, external aerodynamics, and internal combustion engines. Good communication and organizational skills, ability to prioritize multiple projects and work efficiently with multi-cultural technical teams are essential to this role.

• Making sure newly implemented Simcenter STAR-CCM+ developments are well understood. Emphasis is given to verifying new features function as designed throughout the development and release cycles.
• Triaging customer bug reports submitted to the development teams
• Supporting internal customers

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, And Experience
• A postgraduate degree (PhD, MEng, MSc or equivalent) in Mechanical/Automotive/Aerospace/Marine Engineering or other closely related fields
• Extensive experience industrial/research working with CFD software
• Extensive experience/knowledge supporting and/or testing CFD software
• Advanced knowledge and understanding of theoretical, experimental and numerical fluid dynamics
• Expertise in numerical modeling of aerodynamic and hydrodynamic applications
• Basic programming and/or scripting skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work individually and as part of a team to meet project goals
• Good organizational skills
• Proven ability to work autonomously and to prioritize multiple projects
• Fluent English speaking, reading and writing

Preferred knowledge/skills:

Exposure or experience in the following areas will be considered advantageous:
• Experience using Simcenter STAR-CCM+
• Java and/or C++ programming skills
• Expertise in areas of physical science: thermodynamics, heat transfer, aeroacoustics, multiphase, or combustion
• Knowledge in application of CFD methods: vehicle aerodynamics, internal combustion engines, turbomachinery, porous media, vehicle thermal management
