Job Description

The IM Financial Management Specialist purpose and focus will be on Budgets, Financial Transactions and Finance Governance disciplines. This function is responsible for Copper Chile, as well as the Regional Support budgets. Managing the Opex and Capex spend as defined in the budgets and requires regular reporting on the progress. The Finance and Cost Budget Specialist is responsible for the budget planning, and supports the regional management team to define a fit for purpose operational budget.

Key responsibilities include:

• Work closely with discipline managers and superintendents to develop budgets, for example, providing information on financial data and consolidating inputs
• Support the preparation of financial forecasts, taking into account past performance and prospective risks and opportunities
• Collaborate with discipline to develop a risk register, proactively providing financial evaluation (cost/capital) of risk mitigation strategies.
• Support the monitoring of the IM financial performance against the plan, enriching financial reports with operational comments discussed with the disciplines.
• Facilitate in-depth discussion of deviations from the plan, identifying and communicating the operational root causes of financial performance.
• Prepare early warning with data analysis and business cases to support improvement efforts.
• Manage all spend within 3% of the budget.
• Check and Raise Opex Order requests daily.
• Check Capex weekly with project managers
• Track & verify timesheets against invoices for all project resources.
• Maintain and track recovery register.
• Manage all recovery journals and recharges
• Provide overall project financial support to all our project managers.

Qualifications

Formal qualifications:

• Industrial civil engineer, mining engineer or an undergraduate qualification in a relevant discipline
• Postgraduate/Tertiary qualifications within Business Accounting, Finance, Economics desirable

Role-specific knowledge and skills:

• Experience in roles of similar complexity: It would be advantageous to have relevant experience and exposure to the IM discipline OR a proven track record of extensive practical experience in a role and context of similar complexity.
• Strong Technical Background: Expertise in finance and cost budgeting, financial management and reporting
• Proficient in required languages: Spanish and English.
