Job Description:

CDM Smith seeks professionals with a diverse range of skills and experiences to join our dynamic team for donor-funded Water Resources Technical Assistance to the Lesotho’s Department of Water (DWA) under the Institutional Reform Activity which is part of the Market-Driven Irrigated Horticulture (MDIH). This position will be based in Maseru, Lesotho, with anticipated minor local travel within the country.

The primary objective of this activity is to support DWA in addressing the mandate implementation challenges, within the framework of the proposed Water Resources Management Act, and to develop Water Resource Management Plans (WRMPs) for each of the three main catchments in Lesotho; the Mohokare, Senqu, and Makhaleng.

Minimum Qualifications:

· Degree in ecology, aquatic science, biology, natural science, environmental and natural resources management, environmental engineering, environmental science or related engineering fields.

· Professional registration in the relevant field

· 15 or more years overall experience with

· Practical field experiences in wetland studies, wetland management, conservation and governance, and management water resources projects of similar scope, size, and complexity, OR

· Experience in designing natural resources management plans of similar projects, OR

· Demonstrated ability to work productively as a member of multi-disciplinary teams in a rural development context with a focus on modernization of water management.

· Knowledge or familiarity with Lesotho water resources demonstrated through at least one project is desirable.

· Prior international experience and experience working in Sub-Saharan Africa.

· Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.

· Experience on multilateral and bilateral donor-funded projects (MCC, USAID, World Bank, etc.)
