The Opportunity:

McElhanney has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated individual to join our team as a Civil Engineering Technologist in Canmore, AB. This role is ideal for someone looking to grow their design experience by working on a wide variety of... private and public engineering projects, including municipal improvements, subdivision, and multi-family sites. The successful candidate will use their strong technical skills on a variety of design projects.

While working in the Canmore office is preferred, the successful candidate may have the flexibility to work remotely.

What You’ll Be Doing:
• Assist in the production of engineering designs and drawings that meet all client and approval agency requirements and standards for projects such as potable water, sanitation, stormwater management plans and drainage systems, roadway design and complete streets, multi-use pathways, and site grading.
• Transform preliminary concepts and sketches into engineering designs, plans and project informational requirements, using primarily Civil 3D, as well as other technical software as needed.
• Coordinate the preparation of documents required for approvals, prepare development and construction cost estimates and tender documents and contracts, and coordinate with other team members to ensure schedules, budgets and quality control standards are achieved.
• Identify field and design issues and facilitate corrective measures, think independently.

What You'll Bring:
• Diploma in Civil Engineering or Drafting Technology and 5 + years of experience in a similar role.
• Registration, or ability to register, as an AScT or other technical accreditation, is an asset.
• Advanced proficiency in Civil 3D Software is essential.
• Excellent communication, client management, and relationship building skills.
• Attention to detail and excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
• Ability to work independently and also within a busy and high-performing team.

The salary range for this position is $71,000- $107,000 per annum . McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
