• Competitive salary ranging between $81,206 to $97,557.00 depending on experience

Mō te tūnga | About the role

In order to make positive changes in the lives of children and families in our community, we need people like you who can strengthen our response to children and families who have a migrant or refugee background.

In this fast-paced role, your primary objective is to lead and influence practice to ensure an appropriate cultural and situational response is being provided to children and their families. The role allows you to provide practice advice, support and guidance to staff in relation to their work with tamariki and whānau who have a refugee and migrant background. You will work closely with regions, sites and the International Child Protection Unit, and engage with key partners involved in the provision of refugee and migrant services.

Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What... you will bring

Key requirements of the role include:
• Full registration with New Zealand's Social Work Registration Board (SWRB) or able to register)
• A social worker qualification recognised by the SWRB
• A full, clean, current driver's licence
• Previous experience as a social worker or senior practitioner -
• Sound knowledge of the Oranga Tamariki Act 1989 and other relevant legislation, regulations and international conventions -
• Previous experience working with refugee or migrant children and families preferred
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to communicate in Dari and/or Parsi. Having language skills in Pashto and/or Arabic would be advantageous!
• Demonstrated resilience, problem solving techniques and flexibility
• Excellent time management and organisational skills
• Strong PC and Microsoft Office Suite skills with excellent report writing skills
• Understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural practices in particular; knowledge of tikanga Māori, and Pacific peoples' culture
