Location: Dublin

Contract: Full-time, 2 years fixed term

The purpose for this job is to provide care and support for young people transitioning from homelessness to stable accommodation. Working within the Supported Housing for Youth Team, the focus is on those exiting emergency housing. Services are split between Focus Ireland for support and Cluid for housing, spanning single and shared accommodations across Dublin's regions. With a case management and visiting support approach, tailored assistance is provided based on individual needs, including key working and independent living skills programs, maintaining a one-to-ten staff-to-youth ratio for effective support delivery.

What You Will Do
• To draw up with the young person suitable care plans to prepare and support them to be able to move towards independent living.
• To support young people holistically, focusing on their practical self-care needs, health, budgeting, education and training and domestic skills. To play a part... in promoting and building the confidence and self-esteem of young people.
• To advocate on behalf of residents for housing, social work, social welfare, education, training and legal rights.
• To liaise with and make referrals to relevant outside agencies.
• To be vigilant to any Health, Safety and Welfare risks in the workplace and bring any concerns to the attention of your line manager or Health & Safety Representative.
• To attend Team, Divisional and Agency meetings as required and to maintain accurate case records and statistics.
• To report to external stakeholders where necessary.
• To liaise with and inform the Team Leader/Project Leader, regularly, of issues arising from work with individual cases.
• To engage in supervision sessions on a regular basis with the Team Leader.
• To participate in relevant training and development courses and in project evaluation.
• To implement the existing policies and procedures of the project and Focus Ireland and adhere to the Standards of Customer Service.
• To assist in the implementation of the settlement policies and strategies of Focus Ireland.
• To work in close liaison with and co-operate with other Focus Ireland projects in particular Focus Housing.
• In consultation, undertake other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Project Leader, Section Manager or Divisional Head.

What You Will Need
• Extensive, relevant work experience working with young people in care or marginalised young people.
• Third Level Qualification at degree level in social care or related field.
• Experience of key-working clients or individual case-work.
• Experience of managing challenging behaviour.
• Full Clean driver's license and access to a car.
• Good understanding of the issues affecting young people leaving care and in aftercare.
• Understanding of Child Protection.
• Experience of inter-agency working and flexibility.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
