Director of Materials Process Engineering

We are looking for a senior hands-on leader who will be responsible for tuning and altering fundamental properties of our Lyten 3D Graphene. This will require your team to develop processes to modify the chemical and physical properties of our materials for customer specific applications required for EV batteries, sensors and composites. The materials process engineering will initially focus on the development of a pilot line with plans for scaling to high volume manufacturing.

Responsibilities:
• Design and implementation of chemical processes to alter chemical and physical properties of 3D Graphene.
• Identify, select, and validate process equipment required to achieve application specific characteristics of the 3D graphene for product and customer activities.
• Set up and support a pilot line for processing 3D Graphene for application specific functions.
• Design equipment and work with outside vendors when commercial solutions do not exist
• Direct and coordinate efforts with outside consulting company(ies) to design and implement scale up for a multiple metric ton facility.
• Lead team to analyze materials and associated characterization data
• Work on a cross-functional team with an open mind to new ideas in a fast-paced startup environment
• Demonstrate ability to perform advanced scientific problem solving to improve processes and effectively communicate results
• Designing, proposing, implementing, and reviewing plans to ensure company goals are achieved

Qualifications:
• MS or PhD in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or related field
• 10+ years industry experience outside of academia
• Deep experience in vapor/solid chemistry
• Deep experience in liquid/solid separation techniques
• Experience with solid transfer and FEED
• Experience with pelletization
• Experience with fluidized bed reactors
• Experience with continuous flow furnaces
• Experience with Nutsche filters
• Experience in spray drying
• Experience in scaling to high volume manufacturing
