About FinClub

FinClub is the first Digital Financial Services / Fintech startup to secure a Peer to Peer Lending license with the Financial Services Commission (FSC), the Non-Banking Financial Regulator in Mauritius.

We aim to reduce the pain of both individuals and small businesses, to have access to credit by leveraging on Artificial Intelligence/ Machine Learning technologies to enable accredited Investors to lend directly to creditworthy Borrowers. With no intermediaries involved, Investors earn higher interest rates and provide Borrowers with affordable credit options to improve livelihoods or grow their businesses.

Role Description – Recovery Officer

This is a full-time on-site role as a Recovery Officer at FinClub. As a Recovery Officer, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating the recovery process for delinquent borrowers. This includes contacting borrowers to negotiate repayment options, assessing their financial situations, initiate legal actions and... implementing collection strategies to recover outstanding debts. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records and documentation related to the recovery process.

The ideal candidate will have between 3 to 5 years’ experience in a similar position, a strong and assertive personality, excellent problem-solving, convincing negotiations and interpersonal skills and preferably possess a driving license with a clean record.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, your tasks and responsibilities, is summarized below:
• ensure compliance to FinClub’s Credit Policy and Procedures regarding management of debt recovery, and respond to customers complaints and queries; escalating unresolved cases for management’s review and advice,
• work with legal team to ensure compliance policies, and internal and external regulatory requirements are consistently met,
• monitor customer repayments, send reminders, email, call or visit customers to follow up repayments and activate and monitor appropriate recovery follow up processes, including serving liability notices and residential or other visits,
• ensure close follow-up by effecting phone calls, preparing and issuing reminders and letters to Customers as well as conduct field visits as required,
• carry out enquiries, conduct field visits, to trace customers that have absconded without paying EMIs, negotiate arrangements for settling outstanding arrears, and take prompt action in cases where arrangements are not honored,
• instigate appropriate action, on a case by case basis, to ensure the most effective method of debt recovery is used whilst considering the customer’s present circumstances,
• review and issue various documents associated with the recovery of unpaid debts, coordinate legal actions, assist with Court applications and follow up actions, including coordinating with legal advisers and attending court sittings,
• represent the company in court cases, ensuring the relevant evidences in support of FinClub’s case are properly documented and shared in time, with the key stakeholders,
• work closely with management to execute recovery techniques and strategies, meet Collections and Recoveries targets, prepare and maintain monthly collections reports,
• maintain loans ageing analysis, schedule, and follow up with the client on recoverability of outstanding loan balance,
• work closely with management to identify the root causes of loan delinquency, operational weaknesses and recommend changes to improve the quality of the portfolio,

Selection Criteria – Qualifications & Requirements

Some of the important requirements and qualifications you should have to be considered for the job are:
• HSC or University degree in finance, law, accounting, or any other business-related field.
• At 3 to 5 years’ experience in loan recovery or in a similar position.
• Strong problem-solving, negotiation, interpersonal and convincing skills
• Clean driving license, with, preferably own car or motorcycle.
