Our team of surgeons holds private and public appointments at some of the top hospitals in Melbourne and actively supports clinical research in esophagogastric care.

About The Role

As a Clinical Psychologist in our Bariatric Surgery practice, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive psychological support to patients undergoing weight loss interventions. Working within our multidisciplinary team, you will conduct primary and secondary consultations, perform clinical assessments, and collaborate with colleagues to develop tailored management plans. Your focus will be on optimizing psychological well-being, fostering self-management skills, and empowering patients to... achieve sustainable health and weight loss outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
• Leadership Take charge of the Psychology service, overseeing its delivery and ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
• Collaboration Engage in regular consultation, mentoring, and clinical case reviews with other healthcare providers to optimize patient care.
• Clinical Provision Deliver evidence-based psychological assessments, interventions, education, and management to support patients' psychological needs throughout their journey.
• Formulation Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to develop holistic management plans that address patients' individual strengths and challenges.

Your Contribution
• Qualifications: Hold a Masters or Doctorate Degree in Clinical Psychology recognized by the Australian Psychological Society.
• Registrations: Possess current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a clinical psychologist.
• Experience: Bring over 1 year of experience as an endorsed clinical psychologist (at grade 2 level or equivalent), with expertise in eating disorders management, disordered eating, and bariatric surgery.
• Multidisciplinary approach: Demonstrate experience working within multidisciplinary teams, fostering collaborative relationships with diverse healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
• Empathy and Understanding: Exhibit sensitivity to the complex psychological needs of patients undergoing bariatric surgery, with the ability to support them through various stages of their journey.
• Commitment to Quality: Maintain current National criminal history check or be willing to obtain one to ensure the highest standards of patient care and safety.
