30 June 2023 An opportunity has arisen for a Technical Author to join our Birmingham based software design and consultancy team. This is a full-time position (37.5 hours per week). The salary for this role is ~£40,000 dependant on experience. Detailed Job Specification : We are looking for a Technical Author to join our product teams. Key Requirements : Day-to-day responsibilities are likely to include, but not be limited to: Acquire and maintain a deep understanding of the MIS Product Suite and, in a wider sense, Marine Assurance, Terminal Operations and related activities; Identify, set-up and maintain an appropriate platform for housing all product documentation; Establish standards for processes, tools, content, etc.; On-going delivery of meticulous documentation and release notes across the Mainstay product suite; Maintain a roadmap for on-going improvements to the documentation / training material landscape; Work closely with the UX team to ensure that documentation is of the... highest quality in terms of presentation and consistency; Where appropriate, create customer-specific training materials and how-to guides; Working with technical and data science teams to help prepare white papers, promotional materials and other website content; Engaging with customers to identify areas of improvement in terms of documentation and training materials; Where applicable, liaise with external parties to provide translated content for subsets of appropriate documentation The following skills & experience are essential: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Ability to acquire deep understanding of a complex domain, both in terms of business logic and software; Solid understanding of both Web (HTML/CSS) and Print mediums; 3+ years experience in Technical Writing; Experience with authoring technology such as Madcap Flare or a CMS platform. Whilst not essential, any experience of the following would be beneficial: Working in a software house / product environment; A technical background such as engineering, maritime, mathematics, computer science or equivalent. Role Location : We offer a hybrid working arrangement with 2-3 days on-site at our modern offices in Longbridge, Birmingham.
