As the Marketing Assistant, you will be part of telling the story of our boutique retail district through digital media and also promoting the area through marketing, and special events. If you have way of communicating through digital content, enjoy organizing events enliven a community and love sharing the newest and coolest things about a local ‘hood – you will reap tremendous satisfaction from this role. This position will also expose you to the logistics of planning and implementing a special event within a retail street.

Roles and Responsibilities
• Administrative tasks such as filing, phones, etc as required.
• Develop engaging social media posts on behalf of the neighbourhood of South Granville;
• Participate in generating ideas to help promote the... district.
• Ad-hoc event management support
• Execute events with Placemaking & Events Coordinator which includes the moving and set up of books, games, signs, tents, event materials, and displays.
• Preparing media packages and engaging with media
• Surveying for metrics and presenting a report measuring impact.

Qualifications and Skills:
• Experience in event planning, marketing, social media content/community management and communications or similar/relevant;
• Mature, creative, reliable, energetic and highly motivated with a can do attitude;
• Understands the nuances of ‘voice and tone’ is critical. Proven ability to communicate in an engaging and warm manner – verbal and written; Story telling skills will be a tremendous asset;
• Basic familiarity with Google Suite, Adobe Creative Suite; Microsoft Office, Later, Slack.
• Photography and photography editing – an asset;
• Effective planner, extremely organized, and maintains attention to detail;
• The ability to work independently without supervision
• This position requires moderate physical demands, including lifting over 10 lbs and standing/walking for extended periods during events.

The work will be performed at the SGBIA Office, remotely, and in the neighbourhood. Working hours will be regular office hours (mostly 9:30am – 4:00pm) with some variance for weekends and evenings depending on the special events. There will be some self-directed time and hours to execute campaigns.

This position is made possible through the Canadian Summer Jobs Grant and is available immediately for 12-14 weeks for 30 hours per week, starting early June.

The following criteria must be met as per grant regulations:
• Between the age of 15 and 30 years old;
• Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or Refugee; (Sorry, International students are not eligible)
• Legally entitled to work.

Remuneration is $20/hour.
