Objective:

The Data Scientist will be an integral member of the data and digital innovation team, focusing on the development, maintenance, and enhancement of the entity's economic monitoring. This role requires a blend of knowledge in economic theory, econometric techniques, data science skills, and the ability to communicate complex analytical findings to support the entity’s mandate.

Key Responsibilities:
• Build data products, such as intelligent visualizations, data models, big data solutions, and/or AI/ML algorithms for initial simulations or prototypes and subsequent inclusion into the dashboard.
• Support the design, development, and maintenance of the departments economic monitoring dashboard to ensure it provides accurate, timely, and relevant economic indicators.
• Collaborate with Economists, IT and software development teams to ensure functionality aligns with user needs, substantive standards, and technological capabilities.
• Studies explores and evaluates new and... existing data sources to determine their effectiveness and accuracy for use in economic departments and assess their suitability for actionable output and data-driven recommendations to stakeholders.
• Actively coordinate the data capturing process, ensuring data accuracy, timeliness, integrity, validity, and compliance with data standards, quality measures, and guidelines.
• Working with data engineers to collate and clean data from various entities leveraging ETL capabilities.
• Develop and implement departments data management policies and procedures to enhance data quality and accessibility.
• Working with Economists and other data providers to support the development of detailed economic analysis based on established guidelines for all indicators – activities will include context setting, trend identification, anomaly assessment, and areas requiring further analysis and investigation.
• Utilize machine learning techniques for economic performance monitoring, simulation, and predictive analytics.
• Selecting and employing advanced statistical procedures to obtain actionable insights.
• Work closely with economic researchers, technology specialists, and sector experts to gather requirements and feedback on dashboard functionality and analytical outputs.
• Present complex economic analyses and predictions in a clear, understandable manner to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Staying informed about developments in Data Science and adjacent fields to ensure that outputs are always relevant.

Qualifications:
• Advanced degree in Data Science, Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, or similar is required.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience as a data scientist working on the application of data science for economic use cases or other related fields
• Proficient in data science and machine learning techniques, with experience using programming languages such as Python and R.
• Experience with the development of digital economic portals/products aimed at supporting departments, preferably in an economic or financial context.
• Strong background in economic theory and/or econometric modeling with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the application of data science for economics.
• Experience with econometric and economic modeling software i.e. STATA, eViews, GAMS, etc. is an advantage.
• Demonstrable history of devising and overseeing data-centered projects.
• Excellent data management skills, including experience with the latest data management and analytical tools.
• Ability to communicate complex concepts to a non-technical audience effectively.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic high-paced environment.
• Fluent in English and Arabic
