Machine Learning Engineer

Position Purpose
• To scale internally developed machine learning solutions and ensure availability and usability of the developed deployment architecture.
• To support data science applications on data preparation, hardware and software setup and script programming of R&D data analysis tasks.
• To participate in model building in close collaboration with Data Scientists.

Major Tasks and Responsibilities
• Collaborate with Data Scientist to set up and bring machine learning solutions to life and production them on the developed deployment architecture
• Understanding and ability to operate on the developed deployment architecture
•... Responsible for solving challenges in the machine learning development cycle, especially around distributed training in the cloud and data engineering
• Responsible for keeping the existing models up to date, tracking model degradation, setting up autonomous retraining mechanisms and manually retrain the model
• Manipulate and harmonize data (structured, semi- and unstructured) from various sources to speed up model building process
• Responsible to define and drive the development of an efficient micro-service
• architecture solution
• Responsible for defining and ensuring adherence to standards and best practices
• for the machine learning lifecycle at Covestro R&D department

Value Contribution

Increased productivity of R&D and Digital R&D by completing of data preparation, data protection processing and programming tasks and, as a result, support for the objective of R&D APAC to increase the efficiency and speed of product development by time - and resource-intensive laboratory screening is replaced by computer-aided formulation development and new / alternative solutions for formulation development are found.

Qualifications
• University degree in AI/ML, mathematics, computer science, software engineer, computational engineering or comparable, advanced degree preferred.
• >2 years experience in the machine learning engineering domain
• >1 years experience in setting up machine learning deployment architectures and have knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, serverless computing and the offerings of the big
• cloud providers.
• Have knowledge with tools and frameworks like Hadoop, Kafka, Spark – or their respective cloud service equivalent -, with SQL and noSQL databases as well as with edge computing.
• Have experience with programming/scripting languages like bash, perl, ruby, python and R
• Have experience of visualization techniques, e.g. matplotlib , seaborn, shiny, flask, dash, etc.
• Have experience of web and application development.
• Proactive work attitude and initiative.
• Confident language skills in Chinese and English, both written and spoken, and open to working in an international working environment.

The position holder carries out complex technical tasksin data analysis and data sciencein the field of research and development of Covestro.These include: preparation and formatting of data, visualization of data, configuration andmaintenance of HardwareandSoftware for data analysis,preparation of data analysis.After receiving initial instructions, the job holder should mostlycarry outthese tasks independently and largely independently.To fulfill these tasks (special knowledge necessarystatistics, data modeling, Programming,knowledge of configurationof hardware and software).The job holder is responsible forthe quality of the data to be analyzedand should beableto checkthe results for fundamental errors / problemsand to prepare the output for further evaluation by the superior.It is expectedthatthe post holderinterestand theabilityproves to acquire new skills as needed to achieve the objectives and responsibilities of the position.

• In-depth understanding of the drug development and biostatistics, and data management science with a base of experience of 8+ years in, drug development
• Must provide clear vision, direction, and purpose in the, different cultures present within the Global Clinical Development, Organization
