Position: Software Developer Coop/Intern

Number of Position(s): 1

Duration: 4 months

Date: Sept to Dec, 2024

Location: Hybrid

The team you'll be part of

Strategic Applications & Automation Team (SAAT) is part of the Nokia Infrastructure team whose mission is to develop efficient, economical, and sustainable data solutions that will enable our customers to increase Nokia's profitability by augmenting analytical and intelligent automation capabilities. This team is responsible to deliver
• start of the art/sophisticated performance scorecards
• Pre-sales and financial forecasting tools
• Project Management, test automation, and continuous improvement tools
• A modernized common data lake incorporating comprehensive data modeling practices

Education Recommendations

Currently, a candidate enrolled in year 3 or 4 of a bachelor's degree or diploma in Computer Science, Computer System Engineering, or a related field with an accredited school in Canada. A master's... degree is a plus.

Responsibilities

As a software developer, you will:

Play a significant role in developing and enhancing our design system. You will be part of a team that develops and maintains the following tools
• Full stack development tools for pre-sales and quoting
• using React JS and Java
• Data handling
• SQL data models and ETL for migration/reporting needs

This role combines technical expertise, creativity, and collaboration, where you will contribute to the overall development of the team and be able to work and learn on modern development frameworks and various industry-standard software principles. Following are a few areas that the SAAT team works on
• Be part of an Agile software development team.
• Hands-on developing React components and web pages, focusing on modular design and reusability.
• Work closely with senior UI developers, UX designers, and other team members to understand user and business requirements, and translate them into well-crafted UI solutions.
• Be accountable for UI components developed by creating unit tests and actively involved with the QA team.
• Develop and deliver code managed in centralized code repositories.
• Use Python to handle various data processing needs

Required Skills

You have
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge in web technologies, such as HTML, Javascript, Reach JS
• Basic to advanced knowledge of SQL databases
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Python
• Have fluent English speaking, reading & writing skills
• Can work independently and as a team member
• Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills

It would be nice if you also had:
• Have basic knowledge of commonly used source control mechanisms, like git.
• Basic knowledge of data management tools and databases
• A self-learner and open-minded
• Willing to take on new and interesting challenges
• Are motivated, pro-active, innovative, and take initiative
• Enthusiastic about impacting the world for good through technology
