About the Role(s)

Due to continuing business growth we are seeking Junior and Senior Electrical Engineers to support the delivery of a broad range of Power System Engineering projects across Europe and the US. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals to join an organisation working on innovative and exciting solutions to tackle the ever-increasing challenge associated with power demand. Some of the main responsibilities of the roles will include but are not limited to:
• Providing engineering and technical support across a range of projects, principally in areas such as utilities, large energy users, data centres and multi-asset energy parks.
• Project management - leading on design engineering activities to assure cost-effective engineering execution of project deliverables in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, schedule, and safety requirements.
• Assisting in the design of reliable, available and efficient power systems.
• Integration of electrical systems and other applications such as distributed generation control systems, PLC programming, SCADA and remote monitoring solutions, protective relay programming, battery storage applications, generators, networking equipment, and system control architecture
• Preparing technical reports and specifications as well as detailed schematics and diagrams.
• Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

The roles are based out of our Dublin office, however the successful candidates will be able to combine a mixture of remote and office-based working on a hybrid basis.

About You

As a member of the UIG Engineering Team, we are looking for someone who can independently deliver work as assigned to them, whilst providing professional engineering services and support across the department. The candidate should have demonstrable understanding and experience of the application of electrical engineering capabilities, methodologies, processes and toolsets to design and engineering activities. At Senior Engineer level you will be expected to run your own projects and provide technical advice and guidance to the organisation, drawing from your previous professional experience.

We are looking for candidates with any of the following demonstrable qualities:
• Degree (minimum NFQ Level 7) in Electrical/Electronic, Controls or Mechanical Engineering or related technical field. Previous relevant industry experience may be considered in leu of NFQ Level 7.
• 3+ years’ experience (for junior roles) and 10+ years’ experience (for senior roles) in any of the following industries; Utilities, Data Centres, Manufacturing, Industrial Automation, Energy and Power Generation, Renewables, Energy Storage, Systems Integration or any related technical field.
• Experience in HV, MV and LV, embedded generation, substation automation, protection circuits, grid connections, HV and LV switchgear, substations.
• General understanding and awareness of conventional and novel generation technology
• Experience with Mechanical and Electrical Drawing sets.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with experience of leading technical projects to time, cost, and quality through excellent organisational skills despite competing priorities.
• Experience in Transmission and Distribution, Substation Design, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Power Generation, Networking and Communications

In addition, some of the following would be highly desirable:
• Experience with IEC and NSAI Standards (or equivalent standards) and compliance.
• Experience in 2-D CAD software, preferably ePlan
• Power System Studies and modelling
• Civil design – layouts, general arrangements, cable routing etc.
• Electrical contracting and commercial experience
• New Product Development and Introduction
