Physician Enterprise is actively seeking a highly experienced leader to serve as the Southwest Division Medical Director of the Cardiovascular Service Line. We are searching for a well-rounded and collaborative physician leader with 10+ years of proven clinical excellence in patient care. The candidate will be comfortable in initiating and managing relationships with providers and hospital leadership, along with developing and maintaining positive relationships with community leaders in the communities we serve. This individual will have prior experience in managing growth and the development of a successful cardiovascular service line.

The SW Division Medical Director will be primarily accountable for the overall success of the Cardiovascular service line division-wide, in collaboration with their Strategy dyad partner. This individual will be responsible for collaborating with division, hospital and medical group administration to strategically plan the future growth and development of the healthcare service lines within the SW Division. Additionally, this individual will serve as the liaison for quality and cost effective initiatives across the SW Division, in collaboration with the national cardiovascular service line and its divisional constituents. There will be an additional reporting relationship into the division.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for achieving excellence in the overall performance of the service line
• Responsible for the senior leadership, planning, directing, and monitoring of the service line
• Works closely with the Division Director of Strategy as a dyad partner, to develop and implement the overall strategic plan
• Engages staff and cultivates a positive culture that prioritizes humankindness and patient-centric care consistent with CommonSpirit Health and Physician Enterprises’ culture
• Accountable for operational, financial, clinical, quality, and business development activities in all areas of responsibility
• Ensures the integration of the service lines activities are in line with CommonSpirit Health and the SW Division Physician Enterprise initiatives
• Ensures compliance with regulations and governing rules of CommonSpirit Health and contracted payers to include Federal and State payers
• In collaboration with the SW Division System SVP and Provider Site leadership, leads with the vision and creates a culture that reflects a patient care-focused environment
• Directs care center management staff to effectively resolve operational, staff and financial issues pertaining to the practice
• Participates in work groups, teams, task forces and committees to support ongoing division functions, provide input, and resolve ad hoc issues
• Works with the Manager and staff in the development and enhancement of practice guidelines
• Establishes “coaching” or “mentoring” relationships with their team, paying special attention to members who are new or in need of assistance to plan and enhance their professional growth
• Regularly establishes universal objectives and goals for team members and does a yearly evaluation based on those goals
• Clinically active physician who models the practice of evidence-based medicine and superior patient experience skills
• Strives to be a servant leader who exemplifies mission-appropriate excellence and professional growth of the members of the department and promote a culture which supports the mission statement of the Hospital and Medical Group
• Perform such other reasonable duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Hospital President, the Board of Directors, Community Board, or the President, COO or CMO of the Medical Group
• Up to 30% clinical responsibilities

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:

This position currently reports to the System Senior VP, Physician Enterprise of Dignity Health Medical Group Southwest Division for medical group activities. As a member of the medical staff, the physician will also collaborate with the Chief Medical Officer of the SW Division Hospitals for all activities related to medical staff services.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
• MD Degree and Board Certification in Internal Medicine with Cardiology Fellowship
• Minimum of ten years of progressive healthcare leadership experience
• Demonstrated ability to effectively lead productive complex teams
• Demonstrated ability to effectively manage provider relations
• Experience managing an efficient, high quality, complex surgical enterprise with specific experience in dealing with clinical and administrative issues related to perioperative services in a large academic environment;
• Experience in out-of-OR intervention management and willingness to be “hands on”
• Proven expertise in driving effective business and management strategies
