Transformational Leadership / Supervisory

· Oversees the management of HR activities including recruitment, retention, supervision, evaluation, and productivity of the Public Space Code Blue team members...

· Completes yearly and on-going evaluation of Public Space Code Blue team personnel and makes recommendations such as merit increases, promotions, transfers, and disciplinary/performance improvement actions.

· Assists with care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.

· Maintains appropriate stock levels of supplies or communicates with appropriate personnel.

· Provides staff development and education for the Public Space Code Blue Team. Designs strategies to develop and present orientations, in-services and continuing education programs.

· Coordinates and leads Public Space Code Blue training initiatives. Supports staff by monitoring, precepting and providing on-the-job assessment and follow-up training.

· Documents teaching/learning process and outcomes.

· Conducts annual competency assessments, periodic skills check, and assessment and review of clinical practices for the Public Space Code Blue team.

Clinical Practices

· Participates in the review of effectiveness of protocols, clinical guidelines, and department specific criteria in treating patients during a medical emergency.

· Integrates patient safety principles in all aspect of care.

· Participates fully in MD Anderson, Division, Department, and Section activities.

· Contributes to creative problem-solving; evaluates progress and identifies and/or reports obstacles/barriers.

· Leads team or departmental activities, including staff meetings, as assigned.

· Adheres to MD Anderson, Division, Department, Section, Unit, and other applicable policies and procedures

· Adheres to a just culture by holding self and staff members accountable.

· Participates in yearly professional development processes for self and others.

· Strengthens practice, builds strong relationships and develops partnerships to improve patient outcomes.

· Demonstrates knowledge of accepted standards, policies and procedures, staff responsibilities, and equipment related to medical emergency response.

Quality and Patient Safety

· Integrates patient safety principles in all aspect of care.

· Monitors and evaluates patient care and processes to identify opportunities to improve patient safety and quality of patient care.

· Assists the Manager with the preparation and maintenance of monthly statistics, reports, department policies and procedures, QI, budget and customer relations.

· Ensures completeness of documentation by conducting regular audits and routine feedback to staff on improvement areas.

· Actively participates in the collection, evaluation, compilation, and review of CPR data while assisting in development of best practices related to medical emergency response.

Other duties as assigned

Education Required: Successful completion of a Texas Department of State Human Services (DSHS) approved EMT-Paramedic training course or Bachelor's degree.

Experience Required: Four years experience as a paramedic, to include two years of lead/supervisory experience

Licensure / Certification Required: All of the following:
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
Texas Paramedic License issued by the Texas Department of State of Health Services
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification through the American Heart Association.
