The Opportunity:

WSP is currently recruiting a talented and highly motivated Software Developer to join our team in St. John’s, Newfoundland. The position will focus on the development of applications that help our clients anticipate and prepare for adverse weather impacts on their operations.

We provide database management, software development and web-based information delivery to clients, including our own 24/7 weather forecasting center, using cloud technologies and an Agile software development process. What you can expect to do here:
• Designing, developing, testing, debugging, and documenting front-end and back-end applications
• Contributing to team processes and quality control measures
• Communicating effectively with team members on various tasks and projects
• Monitoring, supporting, or enhancing existing applications
• Participating in an after-hours support rotation for mission-critical applications
• Other duties, as assigned

What you'll bring to WSP:
• 3-5 years of relevant experience
• A Computer Science or Software Engineering degree
• Experience creating scalable, data-driven applications with Python, C#, or JavaScript
• Competence with Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL
• Experience creating database stored procedures and optimizing database queries
• Experience with version control using Git
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Experience with cloud services, especially Amazon Web Services
• Knowledge and experience working in a Linux environment is an asset
• Experience with Vue, React, or other front-end frameworks
• Experience with mobile application development
• Expertise in UI/UX design and implementation
