Both positions will work collaboratively with other staff to support effective daily operations of the Library.
General responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Instructional and Outreach Services Librarian Lead the development of the information literacy instruction program; coordinate and conduct information literacy instruction classes in-person, at remote locations, and online Develop and implement assessment procedures in accordance with Association of College and Research Library's framework standards, the College's Essential Competencies, and other considerations as appropriate Provide reference and research assistance Lead and coordinate outreach activities within the Library and with various College departments... including displays, events, and social media Develop, and maintain online tutorials and research guides in collaboration with other librarians Participate in collection development with multiple subject areas Assist in acquisitions, database maintenance, interlibrary loans, circulation, overdues, etc.
Public Services Librarian Oversee day-to-day operations of the Library front desk, open access computer lab, and ID card station In collaboration with the library staff, hire student employees Train library desk staff in all relevant processes and procedures for the Library, open access computer lab, and ID card station; develop and maintain relevant training material and an ongoing training and evaluation program Develop and monitor Library desk staff schedule; foster effective communication among Library desk and professional staff and ensure high quality experiences for diverse Library patrons Provide primary support for I-Share interlibrary loan including the following of consortial rules and resolution of issues between patrons and other institutions Provide reference and research assistance Collect and communicate data related to circulation, computer lab usage, ID card station utilization, and desk staff performance Provide full responsibility for the Reserve collection, utilizing Alma Course Reserves functionality, maintaining the collection through relationships with Faculty, processing and organization of the collection, maintaining accurate records and investigating the relevancy of material currently being made available to students Requirements Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited library school Public service experience, including reference consultations Demonstrated ability to work with digital library resources Ability to work with diverse populations and utilize sound professional judgment Demonstrated excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills Desired Qualifications One year of experience in an academic library setting Collection development experience in a variety of subjects Familiarity with the creation of online research guides and video tutorial Experience supervising student employees (for Public Services Librarian position) Experience with Springshare products and Canvas Learning Management System (for Instructional and Outreach Services Librarian) Applications submitted by August 11, 2023 will receive priority consideration, with review of applications continuing as needed.
