About the role

The Chief Internal Auditor (CIA) is responsible for all internal audit functions, oversight of risk management and governance, internal operational controls, business integrity and ethics. This role is responsible to provide objective assurance, advice and anticipative value-added support to functions in order to enhance decision-making and fully safeguard processes and corporate risk control framework of the Bank. The CIA will take appropriate steps to inform and advise the Board Audit Committee and Senior Management on risk management issues and ensuring that appropriate practices and procedures are in place.

What will you do:
• Oversee the planning, organization, direction, and control of audits for the Bank to develop risk-based audit objectives and design audit plans.
• Ensure audit plans achieve objectives to safeguard the Bank's assets and ensure compliance with and stays informed of all policies, procedures, relevant laws / regulations.
• Make recommendations... to the Management to mitigate risk in the areas of preventative actions, policies, procedures, documentation, or capitalizing other opportunities where the Bank can improve upon its operations and internal control.
• Work closely with other Division Heads to provide consultation and best practice advice with respect to the Bank’s operations, financial accounting, and internal controls.
• Ensure that high risk products, services and processes of the Bank are audited on a regular basis and perform unannounced “spot” audits whenever necessary.
• Coordinate audit plans or programs with external audit firms or regulatory Auditors, where necessary.
• Maintain accurate and current audit procedures, programs and related documentation.
• Report to the Board Audit Committee the results of audit plan / reviews, together with recommended courses of action to strengthen any weaknesses uncovered in an audit.
• Seek ways to improve the Bank’s internal audit practice, audit program approaches, audit efficiencies, and ongoing effectiveness.
• Maintain advanced knowledge and awareness of financial industry audit control and trends.
• Oversee special projects and/or investigations as they arise.

Skills, certifications and experience you possess:
• Bachelor’s Degree / professional education, e.g. ACCA, ACA, MACPA or an MBA, or any related qualifications recognized by Malaysian Institute of Accountants.
• Member of Malaysian Institute of Accountants
• Possess a minimum of 10 years' broad audit experience (preferably both internal and external audit), including a minimum of 5 years leadership experience in managing a division / department.
• Managed multiple high impact special projects and audits, as well as advisory assignments.
• Experience with complex processes or organizations, preferably experience in operational or technical work.
• The incumbent must have a strong and experienced functional knowledge of the Bank's financial accounting, operations and products & services, relevant laws and regulatory bodies’ requirements.
• High attention to detail along with excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills for interfacing with all levels of Internal Audit and Business needs.
• Ability to respond to enquiries from Business Units, Board of Directors, Management, or Regulatory Agencies.
• Ability to effectively present information to EXCO, Board of Directors, External Auditors & Regulatory Bodies.
• Possess sound independent judgment and a proven reputation and track record for acting with complete confidentiality and the highest integrity and professionalism.
• Strong leadership skills with a proven track record in managing teams and making a positive impact on the Bank
