Summary of the Role

The International University Admissions Counselor plays a pivotal role in guiding and supporting students through the intricate process of applying to top universities abroad. This counselor will provide comprehensive assistance, from selecting the right institution and course to preparing application documents and navigating visa requirements. Success in this position is defined by the ability to effectively increase the number of students who gain admission to their preferred universities outside their home country, thereby contributing to the organization's mission of empowering students with global education opportunities.
Responsibilities
• Student Counseling: Conduct personalized counseling sessions with students to understand their educational aspirations, strengths, and preferences, ensuring recommendations are tailored to their specific needs and goals.
• University and Course Selection: Assist students in identifying and selecting universities and... courses abroad that align with their academic profile and career aspirations, taking into consideration factors such as ranking, location, curriculum, and opportunities for scholarships and financial aid.
• Application Process Management: Guide students through the entire application process, including preparing and reviewing application materials (personal statements, essays, recommendation letters), to ensure they are of high quality and submitted within deadlines.
• Test Preparation Advice: Provide advice and resources on preparing for standardized tests required for admission (e.g., SAT, ACT, GRE, GMAT, TOEFL, IELTS), helping students to enhance their test scores.
• Scholarship and Financial Aid Guidance: Inform students about potential scholarships and financial aid options, assisting them in the application process to secure funding for their studies.
• Visa Application Support: Offer guidance on the visa application process, ensuring students are aware of the requirements and timelines, and helping them prepare for visa interviews.
• Pre-departure Orientation: Conduct pre-departure sessions to prepare students for the academic, social, and cultural changes they will encounter, facilitating a smoother transition to studying abroad.
• Follow-up Support: Maintain contact with students post-admission to address any concerns or challenges they may face, supporting their academic and personal adjustment to the new environment.
Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Education, Psychology, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
• Experience: At least 2 years of experience in educational counseling, specifically with students applying to universities abroad. Experience with visa application processes is highly desirable.
• Skills:Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and persuasively.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with a knack for building rapport with students and understanding their unique situations.
• Proficient in managing multiple applications and deadlines, demonstrating strong organizational and planning skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, showing initiative and flexibility in a dynamic environment.
• Cultural sensitivity and awareness, capable of working with a diverse student body.
• Certifications: Certifications in college counseling or admissions consulting are advantageous.
