jobs description

ABOUT THIS JOB OFFER:
We are seeking a teacher with over 3 years of experience for ages 6-10 who is available to work primarily on SATURDAYS 10am-4pm between the months of September 2024 and June 2025. Our classes have 10 students per group. This is a part time position. Other teaching opportunities during the week/weekend and summer months might also become open to those who take over the Saturday classes. Read on if this condition applies to you.

ABOUT US:
RICHMOND HILL ART SCHOOL is one of the largest and most prominent after-school visual arts education establishments in the GTA (operating late afternoon-early evenings, and on weekends). We educate hundreds of students ages 6-18 on a yearly basis within our various programs. We are growing and expanding and are now looking for ART TEACHERS to join our team of stellar instructors who work out of our beautiful, spacious, bright, and modern facility located in the heart of Richmond Hill.

Our teachers are hired on a 10 months-basis... contract as part-time independent contractors. Teaching hours per week vary depending on our requirements and vacancies. We are currently hiring for the academic year of 2024-25 that will commence in September 2024 and run through to June 2025. Some lesson planning work will be required (and paid for) in July-August, prior to actual start of classroom teaching in September.

We are seeking candidates with over 3 years of experience teaching in group settings with solid industry references and an impressive artist portfolio of their own. Preference goes to those with an OCT designation (Ontario College of Teachers certificate), but candidates with good track record of teaching visual arts to groups and a true passion for education will be considered just as equally.

Great communication skills in English, strong organization and planning skills, work ethic and a sense of long term commitment - are the overall attributes of our ideal candidates. We encourage everyone who applies to look at our online presence and social media in order to better familiarize themselves with our mission and what we do (prior to applying). Mutual synergy is key in this collaboration! Our working environment is extremely supportive and we seek to elevate not only our students, but to also offer a valuable and rewarding experience to anyone who joins our mission of serving the local community with access to high standard education in VISUAL ARTS.
