Position: Chemical Process Engineer

Job Summary...

As a Chemical Process Engineer, you will be tasked with overseeing, refining, and enhancing manufacturing procedures within our facility. This role is pivotal in ensuring product quality, managing change, maintaining documentation, and driving continuous improvement initiatives on-site.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assume ownership of manufacturing processes, emphasizing product quality, and collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to optimize and refine procedures.

• Conduct process design calculations and generate various deliverables including hydraulic calculations, equipment sizing, simulations, heat and material balances, process flow diagrams, and instrumentation diagrams.

• Establish and uphold process engineering standards, including relief valve sizing, line sizing, and equipment specification and procurement.

• Develop and manage key process philosophies such as relief systems, maintenance isolation, emergency protocols, and operational controls.

• Innovate and implement best practices to enhance production rates and output quality.

• Monitor performance metrics to identify areas for enhancement and oversee upgrades accordingly.

• Execute chemical engineering design activities throughout project lifecycles, providing comprehensive process documentation and operating instructions.

• Assist in the installation, commissioning, and startup of new equipment.

• Lead and adhere to management of change processes, engaging in hazard analyses and safety reviews.

• Manage quality, process, and productivity projects, conducting risk assessments as required.

• Provide support for large capital projects and lead smaller initiatives independently.

• Participate in vulnerability assessments, root cause analyses, and accident investigations as necessary.

• Develop preventative maintenance schedules for existing equipment and collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure effective execution.

• Support corporate environmental, health, and safety (EH&S) initiatives and quality programs.

• Assist in capital projects aimed at implementing new products or processes.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering.

• 2 to 5 years of experience in a chemical processing environment.

• Proficiency in chemical engineering unit operations, including distillation, advanced filtration, mixing, and materials handling.

• Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team-building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to multitask and maintain a safety-focused and quality-oriented mindset.

• Hands-on experience with process and mechanical operations as required.

• Proficient in Microsoft applications or statistical software, with experience in JMP, Minitab, SAS preferred.

• Working knowledge of AutoCAD.

• Candidates must pass a post-offer drug screening prior to employment, as the role involves safety-sensitive responsibilities requiring constant alertness
