About the role

Your primary role is to lead and manage sustainability stakeholder relations, sustainability communications and storytelling to build Fortum´s brand and reputation. You ensure that sustainability approach is sufficiently embedded in all Fortum’s brand and... communications activities, conveying our broad ambition on sustainability. You will also be responsible for development and execution of Group sustainability-related stakeholder, including NGOs, relations in cooperation with the Sustainability unit and businesses. You will report to the Director, Brand and reputation, but work closely with Corporate Relations Business units, News desk and of course with the Sustainability team.

Your responsibilities include:
• Planning, preparing and executing proactive sustainability communications and narrative together with the Sustainability, Public Affairs and business communications teams
• Planning and managing stakeholder events and roundtables to activate dialogue and show Fortum´s broad ambition and commitments on sustainability
• Planning and preparing NGO dialogue; stakeholder mapping, issues management
• Leading the internal network responsible for NGO relations
• Ensuring that sustainability is sufficiently embedded in all Fortum’s brand and comms
• Planning and creation of sustainability content to reports, own media channels and executive presentations
• Cooperating closely with People function in diversity and other people related sustainability topics
• Supporting issues management and reputation management, including messaging, Q&As, presentation materials

We are looking for a new team member in Espoo, but we work flexibly in a hybrid model that adapts to both your professional and personal needs.

About you

To succeed in this position, you have:
• Formal education at Master’s level in relevant field
• 7+ years’ experience from external and internal communications at strategic level
• Good understanding of ESG; its relevance and impact on company reputation
• Experience in stakeholder relations and management, preferably with demanding stakeholders
• Strong understanding of sustainability topics and stakeholders, incl NGOs way of thinking and acting
• Ability to coach Fortum experts and managers in ESG / sustainability related messaging
• Proven skills in stakeholder centric, impactful message creation; effective presentation skills and expert ability to adapt communications style to audience
• Strong external networking skills enabling active participation in sustainability related discussions with other companies, authorities and NGOs
• Self-driven and independent approach with outcome focus and ability for out-of-the-box thinking
• Good interpersonal skills in order to work with internal and external stakeholders, demonstrating empathy, diplomacy and cultural sensitivity
• Ability to work under pressure
• Experience from large, (stock-listed) complex organizations; understanding the requirements and restrictions for a listed company communications.
• We require fluency in English and Finnish, other Nordic language skills are a bonus.
