Are you a highly motivated, detail oriented individual, who is interested in coding, has strong analytical skills, and can thrive in a fast-paced actuarial team? Aviva Life & Pensions are currently recruiting for an actuarial analyst with circa two years’ experience to join our Actuarial Operational Services (AOS) team.

As an Actuarial Analyst in the AOS team, you will play a meaningful role in addressing technical customer and broker queries while also actively supporting various business projects.

You'll support the team in ensuring smooth operation of our actuarial processes and maintaining high standards in supporting our customer facing teams to tackle a wide range of technical... queries. This position is also an opportunity to work with coding and build or improve your skills in that area – strong excel skills are a must .

Key aspects of role:

Technical Customer and Broker Query Resolution:
• You'll analyse technical queries from customers and brokers regarding Aviva’s life & pensions products, using actuarial skills and knowledge.
• You'll support our customer facing teams, explaining complicated topics with accurate, clear and appropriately detailed explanations to get the right information to our customers first time!

Data Analysis and Coding:
• Develop and apply coding skills, including SQL, VBA, and other relevant tools, to extract, manipulate, and analyse data for actuarial purposes.
• Support better customer outcomes by automating routine tasks, improving efficiency and accuracy.

Risk Management:
• Investigate customer impacting errors found within the business.
• Carry out root cause analysis and help to improve out control environment to ensure errors do not reoccur.
• Share lessons learned and fix issues using complex models.

Business Project Support:
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support various actuarial and business projects.
• Contribute to project planning, data analysis, and modelling tasks as required.

• Provide crucial support to our PRSA Actuary to ensure we are aligned with applicable legislation.
• Ensure Aviva’s projections are aligned with Actuarial Standards of Practice.

Attention to Detail:
• Maintain a high level of accuracy in all tasks, especially in data analysis and document review.
• Review and validate actuarial calculations, reports, and models.

Meeting target timelines:
• Work collaboratively within a fast-paced team environment to meet tight project and reporting timelines.
• Adapt to changing priorities and manage time effectively to ensure timely completion of tasks.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:
• We would like the successful candidate to have an Actuarial degree with at least 2 years previous work experience, preferably in a life insurance environment!
• You will be customer focused and be able to apply lateral thinking to solve complex problems. You should have strong attention to detail and a show a high degree of accuracy in your work.
• You must have strong communication skills, as explanation of results to non-technical teams is essential. You will require the ability to function as part of a team.
• You should have competent IT skills. Excel spreadsheets in particular are used extensively by the team. An interest in coding, with proficiency in SQL, VBA, or other relevant programming languages would be preferable.
• You will need strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
• A strong commitment to meeting our agreed SLAs and delivering quality work is essential.
• A high level of responsibility is given to trainee actuaries on the AOS team. The work of this role has great potential to immediately impact customers, brokers, and the company’s reputation. The work is among the widest ranging and interesting of the actuarial teams because it requires both business knowledge e.g., company’s products, systems and procedures and actuarial knowledge e.g., actuarial concepts and systems.
