The Opportunity

We are looking for passionate Youth Workers to work directly with young people who are

vulnerable and in need of assistance.

You will be the person in their lives to help them build life skills, healthy attachments, and most

importantly be there for them when they need you the most. You will work through tough... times

and challenges together, knowing that the ultimate outcome is guiding them to live a fulfilled

and independent life.

This role is for full-time permanent employment and requires availability across 7 days. We

operate a roster of a minimum 5 x 24-hour shifts per fortnight.

Key responsibilities include:
• Building rapport and trust with young people, acting as a role model with residential

house duties.
• Navigate through their personal challenges, providing both emotional and professional

support in collaboration with the team of Youth Workers, Case Managers, and other

relevant community services.
• Help engage in post-crisis support functions to better support young people with

complex needs and behaviours.
• Advocating for a young person’s sense of belonging while encouraging their independence is a

deeply rewarding career path.

Recruitment Process

We are currently recruiting for our Induction Program commencing on Monday 15th April


Successful applicants will be invited to a telephone interview.

If Successful after the telephone interview you will be invited to an in-person interview.

Prior to this in-person interview you will be asked to supply:

Current QLD Drivers Licence

Right to Work Documents (Birth Certificate or Passport)

Current QLD Blue Card (or be willing to obtain)

Completed LCS2 or LCS7 Form (To be provided to you post interview if successful)

2 x Professional References

If successful at the in-person interview and once all documents have been provided and

cleared, you will be issued a Letter of Offer and Contract for the Induction

program commencing on Monday 15th April 2024.


Pre-employment screening including Working Rights, Qualifications, Working with Children Checks, Health

Details Form, and eligibility to obtain a positive Child Safety and Personal History Screening Check (LCS2).

How we support you

Safe Places for Children offers a comprehensive induction program that encompasses classroom, online and on-the-job training. The induction program is designed to provide individuals with a solid understanding of a ‘day in the life’ of a Youth Worker at Safe Places as well as the skills, knowledge, and practice, to work within our Integrated Practice Framework.

Due to trauma sensitive work for our Youth Worker, we require our inductee Youth Workers to successfully complete the Induction Program before they can be assigned to a young person. As such, employment offers are made on a casual basis and following the successful completion of the Induction Program, permanent, full-time offers are made. Candidates will need to be available to attend the Induction Program which will take approximately 3 weeks from 15th April 2024.
