Position Title: Manufacturing Engineer

Location: Shelby Township, Michigan

Job Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineer position is a hands-on, active role in the manufacturing process that will spend significant time working with the production team on the plant floor. The Engineer will be expected to quickly familiarize themselves with the Haeger product and begin implementing projects within the plant to improve manufacturing quality and efficiency. This facility is early in its lean transformation and this position will be a high visibility opportunity to implement lean manufacturing and a wide variety of other projects within Haeger. The engineer will work predominately within the machining and assembly departments, with occasional projects focused on business/office processes.

Job Responsibilities:
• Support the machine shop by designing fixtures, optimizing programs and constantly reviewing the processes within the shop to identify improvements.
• Support manufacturing by resolving production issues, documenting solutions and defining continuous improvement opportunities.
• Drive continuous improvement in the manufacturing process using lean manufacturing and six sigma methodology.
• Lead Kaizen events and help foster a culture of lean on the production floor.
• Support new product development by completing product testing and industrialization for the manufacturing process.
• Document best practices in all business processes through the development and maintenance of work instructions.
• Design fixtures, tools and processes to improve the workflow in assembly and machining.

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, industrial or related engineering discipline.
• 3+ years in a manufacturing environment, preferably machine assembly and machining.
• 3+ years' experience using 3D CAD/CAM software, preferably SolidWorks and MasterCAM.
• 2+ years using lean methods and leading improvement projects on the plant floor.
• Ability to organize, plan, and perform multiple projects and meet deadlines with excellent quality and service.
• Strong computer skills in MS Office products (word, excel and PowerPoint).
• Solid verbal and written communication skills including professional phone etiquette.
• Familiarity with an ERP/MRP system and their functions
