Summary:The Food Scientist is an important member of the Lucks Manufacturing and Quality team at our Fife, Washington manufacturing location. The Food Scientist is responsible for food product formulation development and the technical transfer of ingredient formulation to edible manufactured products including edible image paper, edible ink color, regulation updates, and other food categories as... identified. Responsibility:
• Leads product development projects from conception to commercialization, including conceptualization and prototyping, experimental design, material identification, selection and sourcing, technical transfer, manufacturing processes and regulatory requirements.
• Develops product documents, including equipment specifications, batch or recipe records, and standard operating procedures.
• Oversees scale-up testing by leading machine operators and ensuring adherence to process documentation.
• Ensures manufacturing process validation and provides guidance on validation and stability testing standards.
• Optimizes production products to meet operational and sales objectives through coordination with Manufacturing Operations, Quality Assurance, Engineering, and other departments.
• Coordinates product presentations to support Sales and Marketing initiatives.
• Supports the Quality Assurance Manager with documentation management for the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), British Retail Consortium (BRC) certification program.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Food Science or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience working as a food scientist, preferably in food manufacturing. Experience in color, baking, or films is a plus.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience working with food manufacturing operations, equipment, and product facility required.
• Food process technology understanding and experience including heat transfer, thermodynamic principles, temperature curves, the effects of temperature and/or time on various substrates and functional ingredients as well as a basic understanding of process equipment and use.
• Strong background in food chemistry and food engineering.
• Knowledge of food laws and regulations, including nutritional facts development, ingredient declarations, and formulation and R&D documentation.
