Global Fund Junior Laboratory Expert Zimbabwe ResultsinHealth is looking for an independent junior laboratory specialist who is experienced in assessing laboratory systems and associated commodity supply chains to produce high quality actionable recommendations to government and partners. Assignments will be on a short-term basis. This is a part-time position.
Services may include full laboratory systems reviews, or parts thereof. Experts assess systems with the aim of ensuring best practices and risk mitigation for the Global Fund through Local Fund Agent verification and oversight activities. Services may involve onsite assessment visits, as well as desk reviews of documentation or quantifications. Requests come often at short notice, and responses must be swift. Onsite work is often required.
The Junior laboratory expert will be locally-based and work independently under the supervision and collaboration of the Senior lab expert and the LFA team. Estimated annual LOE is 20-35 days.
Profile ... Qualifications
A minimum of 8 years of professional experience working in laboratory services and the management of diagnostic products, including: Experience with international agencies on strengthening laboratory services and/or diagnostic product/equipment matters, Experience with and strong understanding of the diagnostic platforms used for the management of HIV/AIDS, TB and malaria programmes in limited resource settings, Expertise in working with and understanding Quality Assurance (QA) systems, the selection of laboratory diagnostics and the implementation of diagnostic programs, Working knowledge of WHO, GF and PEPFAR laboratory policies and guidelines, Working knowledge of procurement and supply chain good practices for diagnostic products, Good understanding of the WHO prequalification program and the work of the Global Harmonization Task Force (GHTF), Familiarity with COVID-19 diagnostics and laboratory preparedness, including the management of oxygen, is desirable, Experience in preparing policy documents, proposals and technical guidelines,
An advanced University Degree in medical biology or pharmacy is required, and good written and spoken English are essential.
Preference will be given to candidates with laboratory systems experience in Southern Africa, including the ability to share experiences and lessons learned from multiple countries and epidemiological contexts.
Prior experience working with the Global Fund, UN agencies or other international development partners is desired.
