Major DutiesUnder the direction of the President and general supervision and guidance of the Chief of Staff, the Executive Assistant to the President assists the President in matters related to the President’s projects and time administration including management of the President’s professional calendar, coordination of special events, and the scheduling of travel. The incumbent balances complex priorities, deadlines, project schedules, and other assignments while exercising tact, good judgment, discretion and professionalism at all times; coordinates the daily flow of the President’s schedule and communicates on behalf of the President with high-ranking University officials, community leaders, and the public on matters related to the President’s calendar and scheduled activities; and performs other duties as assigned. QualificationsEquivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university. Equivalent to five (5) years of progressively responsible experience as an administrative assistant, executive secretary, or staff assistant. Knowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesHigh developed ability to demonstrate sound judgment, credibility, maturity, and integrity. Ability to act in a highly discreet manner in the conduct of his/her responsibilities. Ability to work effectively in a high-level, high-profile, fast-paced administrative office with a heavy workload and frequent interruptions, while maintaining professional composure. Exceptional ability to maintain confidentiality in the performance of duties. Administrators, faculty, and staff throughout the University must rely upon, and have confidence in, the ability of the incumbent to maintain a high degree of confidence, exercise discretion, and be able to effectively and faithfully represent the President. Strong knowledge of organizational and management structures. Advanced ability to quickly learn, interpret, and apply sound judgment in the interpretation and application of complex organizational rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Strong ability to understand and take into account University and Presidential priorities in responding to requests for the President’s time and attention, and in maintaining the President’s professional calendar. Excellent ability to organize, plan, prioritize, set deadlines and complete projects on schedule including complex logistical arrangements including programs, meetings and travel. Superior ability to independently research requests including the collection, analysis, and reporting of data. Written and oral communication skills for this position must be of the highest quality, as the incumbent is often the representative for the President. Superior ability to communicate and interact discretely and effectively with faculty members, students, staff members, alumni/ae, and members of the general public with regard to a wide variety of matters. Superior ability to communicate and interact discretely and effectively with senior University officials and persons in senior positions outside the university. Pay, Benefits, & Work ScheduleThe university offers an excellent benefits package.Classification: 1176 / Confidential Administrative SupportThe salary range for this classification is: $5102 - $11,325 per month.HOURS: Full-Time; 40 hours per week; 8:00am - 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. May include some evenings and weekends.REG: This is a Regular position with a two-year probationary period.
