As our patient volumes and workload increases due to COVID-19, our need for additional temporary workforce increases, as well. We have an increased need for Rehab Therapy Professionals and are looking for students, retirees or others with OTA or PTA certifications. We are hiring therapy professionals which will assists in performing delegated duties related to patient mobility, transport, and turning/proning as directed by the clinical team on the nursing unit.
Job Description
Title: Physical Therapy Assistant
Temp hire requiring a 6-10 hour shift at least 2-3x week
Primary Purpose
Assists in performing delegated duties related to patient mobility, transport, and turning/proning as directed by the clinical team on the nursing unit.
Major Responsibilities
* Performs various patient positioning, transferring and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique.
Assists patients with toileting, ambulation or unskilled exercises as... delegated.
Transports patients to and from units using standard precautions.
Orders and dispenses clean linen throughout area. Empties hampers and changes linen in the treatment areas.
Orders and stocks supplies, including cleaning solutions. Maintains clean and safe work equipment and storage areas.
Performs miscellaneous clerical and delegated duties as assigned by the unit.
Licensure, Registration And/or Certification Required
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required.
Education Required
High School Graduate
Currently enrolled in 2nd year of Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy Program
or
Currently enrolled in final year of Physical Therapy Assistant or Occupational Therapy Assistant Program
Or
Previous experience as a Rehab Aide in a hospital setting
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
Must have good communication skills.
Ability to relate to people of all age groups.
Must Be Able To
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist.
Lift up to 20 lbs. over the head.
Carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.
Push/pull with 30 lbs. of force.
Perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
Position Requires Repetitive Use Of Hands
Simple grasping - 5-15 lbs. - 20% of the workday.
Pushing/pulling - up to 75-100 lbs. - 10% of the day.
Fine manipulation of hands.
Must have functional use of senses to allow for effective communication.
Potential for exposure to blood and body fluids through patient contact and therefore must have ability to wear protective clothing as needed.
Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, and squat throughout the workday.
Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
